The Russell Trust
by cameo-d incould there possibly be some hidden connection here?.
the russell trust association is the business name for the new haven, connecticut based skull and bonessociety, incorporated in 1856.[1].
the business and political network of the skull and bones is well detailed by hoover institution scholar antony c. sutton in the expose, america's secret establishment.

Was Daniel seperate from the world?
by JimmyPage indaniel accepted appointment to a high position in the babylonian political structure and even requested administrative positions for three of his friends.
yet daniel is held up as an example to us for being willing to face death rather than be disloyal to god.
how would daniel have been treated today by the wt society for such actions?

No More Publisher Numbers
by GermanXJW inaccording to a report on the german xjw-board: http://forum.sektenausstieg.net/index.php?topic=13367.msg391400#msg391400 the german kingdom ministry for february 09 does not contain a supplement with the publisher figures.
.
furthermore, it does not contain the monthly report for the first month of the service year 2009 (sep 08) as it used to in the past.sixty years.. this may indicate that the wts is not that transparent with their publishers numbers any more if they are not even doing away with it.. can anyone confirm from other countries?.

Questions about A.H. Macmillan
by Junction-Guy inwow, i was just reading the online section of my old hometown newspaper.
they have a section about famous and contoversial people who are either from that town or who visited it.
there were several people mentioned in that column that were ministers and that the town hosted the national conference of free will baptists back in 1941.. .

The Watchtower Society had traveling overseers (called pilgrims) who went all over the country visiting congregations. Macmillan also came on several occasions to Florida, including Tallahassee. The Proclaimers book has several references to him; look at the index. Page 222 notes: "Many of these traveling representatives of the Society were dearly loved by those wlhom they served. A.H. Macmillan, a Canadian, is remembered as a brother to whom God's Word proved to be 'like a burning fire.' (Jer. 20:9) He just had to talk about it, and he did, speaking to audiences not only in Canada but also in many parts of the united States and in other lands..."

Star of Bethlehem = Satan?
by sacolton inhow many of you were taught the star of bethlehem was actually satan directing the magi to jesus so they could report back to king herod have jesus killed?.
when i first heard this from an elder, i started doubting their teachings.
why must they demonize everything that is beautiful in the bible?.

What I find interesting is that the Magi were Gentiles and they acknowledged Jesus, yet his own nation did not. They came for the expressed purpose of doing him homage. When they arrived they bowed down to him as royalty. They also presented him with gifts. Although they arrived after the fact, why couldn't we consider these birthday gifts?

Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !
by Simon inas i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/.
it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

For those who think that the pyramid is just in honor of Russell's memory, you are mistaken. Russell died in 1916; the pyramid monument was erected in 1919. J.A. Bohnet claimed that Russell approved it, but it was intended for all those living at Bethel at that time. There is a good description of it in the Souvenir Report of the Bible Student's Convention in Pittsburgh, Pa. 1919. I tried to find a copy of the original, as I have seen it online before, but couldn't find it this time. However, there are quotes from it at the following link, but there is much more detail in the original. If anyone comes upon that link again, please post it here.
