  1 Cor. 10:6 states: "For if a woman does not cover herself, let her also be shorn; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered." Of course, this is when she is praying or prophesying (vs. 5). What Jw women have to do is begin a new fad; shave their heads and voila the problem will be solved.

  After going through this lengthy explanation of why he felt that women should cover their heads while praying, ( vs. 7-10 and 14-15) Paul is forced to admit in vs. 16 that it is a custom in the congregations. What he failed to mention is that customs are never set in stone.

  What the W.T. needs to acknowledge is that customs do change. Today's world is different from that of Paul's world.

  today i was out in service, met sveral nice peopel who like to here about god news from the bibel,i was reding from luk 21, and showing them what will happend, and that jehova can solve our problems.i think here in matrealistik sweden we have a bigg los of spirutal sings, evrything here is about money, and young peopel dont like this so much, they want a new order, some have gone to this proclaim the streets movment, it is a anarkistic movment.. so i must say the messege from bibel is radher the same, a bigg dissaster, and then a new order.. but i dont think as the gov body that only jw are saved,i am more i touch widh rutherfords talk,million who now live will never die.. never forget that the bibel say, we are not judges,it is jesus who have this power,think gb has forgett this thing.. greatings from the north.

  OH HAPPY DAY----when I no longer went out trudging from door to door placing that Watchtower literature. Can you imagine if Jesus were here? The Society would require Him to do the same. Would He approve of this drudgery?

  Great find Dakota Red. I checked out those Crimetime magazines and found that the interview of Spillane by Michael Carlson appeared in the June 11, 2001 issue. And yes, he still considers himself a Jehovah's Witness. I, too, am surprised.

  I remember a number of years ago when Mickey Spillane left the Jws and returned to book writing. Does anyone know his current status? I don't hear anything about him today. Is he still alive? Does he still write? Does he practice any religion? Etc.

  Also, does anyone know if there are current Jw authors, with books on the market?

  I had a similar experience when I was 14; also witnessed by my cousin. One difference was the color. What we saw looked like the moon, made no sound and just seemed to go down in a wooded area. The explanation given was swamp gas. I can't say it was or wasn't. I never saw anything like it before or since. I wouldn't say it was anything supernatural or alien. I think that the government conducts a lot of experiments that the ordinary citizens know nothing of--and when objects are sighted all types of explanations are offered to keep it secret (until they can know longer hush hush it). Then, too, it could have been some type of natural phenomena (other than swamp gas). Maybe it was ball lightning, as some here maintain.

  Pledge of Allegiance

  a bill by sen. william ``pete'' knight would require that all california schoolchildren say the pledge of allegiance daily.

  under sb 1248, public school teachers would have to lead students in saying the pledge at the beginning of each school day.

  this is very interesting, although i seriously doubt it would pass.

  I attended my first Flag Day Ceremony today at the Elks Lodge. I didn't realize how patriotic they are. I was invited to the function by the mother of two daughters who are Girls Scouts. The girls participated by carrying the American flag into the assembly area. Actually 7 flags were brought in and a history of each one was given. The Elks are the only civic group that I know which has an annual Flag Day Ceremony. The event proved to be very interesting.

  JW's in hell?

  what do you think, if there is a hell, do you think jw's are going.

  i know (because of my lifestyle) if there is a hell i have a good chance of going, although the idea of spending an eternity with god's supposed people doesn't sound too thrilling, in which case i better practice a life of celibacy.

  i don't know what brought this post up, my friend just played me a clip from a south park episode where all the devout chrisitians go to hell, including jehovah's witnesses, and all the good mormons get spared (kinda funny in a strange sort of way).

  Bleep says: "Matt. 5:5 The meek will inherit the earth forever."

  I don't see the word "forever" in Matt. 5:5. At any rate, if this means what Jws say it means, there have been no meek upon the earth up until this time. Strange that Jesus would be speaking two thousand years ago just for the benefit of modern day Jws.

  The Watchtower lives for crisis, so that it can point to how much closer we are to the end. Everything that was pointed to in the past as proof positive, now all take a back seat to the threat of nuclear holocaust. But what does Armageddon have to do with nations battling each other with nuclear weapons? If mankind is able to destroy himself by means of such weapons, Jehovah will not need the Battle of Armageddon! If the end will come in Jehovah's time and by Jehovah's sources how can man hasten it (with or without nuclear weapons)?
