what practical problems arise from leaving jehovah's witnesses?

this question was inspired by a poster whose jw friend refused to be a reference for an apartment.

i wonder if most jw's know deep down that they need to maintain some ties with non-jw's in case they find themselves either deciding to leave or ostracized for some reason..

i have learned a lot about cults on this site and cannot thank you all enough for helping me get a sense of what is going on with my jw acquaintance.

as it turns out, another friend of mine told me she goes to the hare krishna temple.

she is a wonderful person, and we have been spending time together having long conversations.

i'm realizing that just as jwn is helpful for those with a jw background, i would like to find a discussion board for people with a born again evangelical background.

since there can be overlap between jw's and other bible-oriented religions, i figured i'd ask for recommendations.

from a google search, i see one called www.ex-christian.net.

What are "Super Friends" in JW speak?

i noticed the term "super friends" in another thread about jw & christian lingo.

can someone explain what it might mean?.

my jw acquaintance refers to her fellow jw's as her "best friends" presumably to differentiate jw's from her non-jw acquaintances.

Will Jehovah himself kill me, or will Jesus, Satan, or someone else?

i've heard people here say jw's believe that jehovah will slaughter non-members of the jw religion when armageddon comes any day now.

does the watchtower teach that jehovah himself will do the killing, or is it delegated to someone else like jesus, satan, angels, or humans killing each other?

who is the actual killer in the picture?

When Do JW's Start Distributing Memorial Invitations?

i saw the threads about the memorial invitations and was wondering when the jw's actually start distributing them to houses.

i want to email my jw friend a question about the invitation, but i want to do it during the timeframe in which they are passing them out.

are they already distributing them at this time?.

this is the first time english-speaking jw's have knocked when i've been home.

it was interesting to observe them now after spending last year as a study and attending a kh.

YHWH Commanding To Kill Other Tribes' Children Morally = Molech Child Sacrifice?

for those who feel yhwh is good, is his commanding his chosen people to kill the children of other tribes morally equal to or very close to morally equal to (i.e.

just as bad as) molech commanding his people to kill their children?
