NEARLY 17 YEAR OLD BOY IS MINISTERIAL SERVANT
by minimus inthings must be getting pretty desperate.
i just heard some wonderful news of another boy being appointed a ministerial servant.
the comment was that even though he is young, he is very mature.another person, speaking of a different boy being appointed said that he had the added advantage of being home schooled and that really helped him to mature.

Mentally speaking we all enter into friendships with the idea that this will be a benefit to us. Not in a selfish way, but more in a desire to improve our life by joining with others we hope will support and be our friend.
Often though we take the road to friendship one mile at a time. We take the first mile to get to speed and get used to the gears. We take the mile slower and learn a little about the road we are one. Reading the signs and taking note of the distance traveled. This is the point when we ask a lot of questions to our friends and see what they like and dislike. We learn a little of their past and some of the goals of their future.
Then the second mile comes and we speed up to a little more of a faster pace. The signs seem a little less noticeable, so now we look more at the overall scenery and see the deeper landscape. This is the time when we start letting the smaller signs pass by, and begin to get into the deeper part of our friendship. When we can sit and talk about our inner desires and hopes, and actually show a little more of who we are.
Then we have the middle miles. These are the miles that might be full of road construction and pot holes. We might slow down for a little bit to be cautious, but we keep on moving. This is the time in all friendships when things happen that make for tough times. This could be a argument, or minor disagreement. We might get up set, but we still keep on that road of friendship. We realize that the road work was not meant to slow us down, but rather to improve the path.
Then we get to the scenic route, the deep color part of the road. Where the ocean is on one side and tall redwoods are on the other. Ferns cover the landscape and waves can be seen crashing on the shores and rocks below. This is the jewel part of friendship, when your connection to the person knows so many colors and reasons for being strong. You value your time more and you connect on levels of friendship you have never thought possible.
Then the car runs out of gas and the road seems to darken ahead. Your friendship has run a long course, but your friend and you have grown old together and now one of you is in there last days. Many people have left them and moved on, but you are still there. The car is out of gas, but the journey is not get complete. Time to go the extra mile. So you park the car, get out and start to walk with your friend. You realize that now that time is short, a walk at a slow pace makes more sense anyway. You have time to talk about past miles and to enjoy the scenery a little closer.
Then the last mile comes. Your friend whom you have had for a life time has now passed and you stand on that road alone. What do you do. You walk over to a local store and find a postcard or two that show highlights of the road and keep it with you. Later you will look at it and remember all the curves and all the hills you climbed together. As long as that card is with you, the path will never end in your mind.
Now you get into you car again and begin a new road, a road that heads in a similar path. A path that will meet much traffic, as you travel. You will travel to many ends, but always remembering those past miles with your friend.
Isn't friendship a wonderful road?

Life passing before our eyes

It is said that at this moment, everyone finds there God. Whether he be Jesus in Heaven or Buddha in the hills. In all, your desire to live kicks in with a balance towards accepting to die. We all wonder what that moment of death will feel like, what that time of end will be. Yet when we sit at that moment where the end is a possibility, all we see is what was and not always what will be. What does this tell me?
Well it tells me that despite all that we concern on today, it is as much important what we did yesterday. Do we create memories to have with us. Memories of joy and happiness. Things that will allow the life that might flash at that moment of end, to be a full feature and not a short flick.
How many of you have gone to a park lately and ran through the sprinklers? How many of you have gone to a fair and enjoyed some of those weird snacks, then road a ride to see what they would taste like on the way back? Have you spent more time growing old, then you have growing young?
Take the time again in your life to live it a little fuller and to live it a little happier. Make memories that matter and have times that are worth sharing. For none of us know when that moment will hit. That moment when we might be driving and a truck pulls in front of us, and time takes a stand still. When the memories of what was will be all that we have from this world, when that small movie starts as "life truly passes before our eyes". Make those memories every day, and try to make them a good one. No one likes a sad conclusion, because we all know life should be full of good memories and happy endings. -

Listening to the Silence
by kenpodragon insometimes when i have gotten home from a busy day or spent way to much time with family members, i like to go into my office or out into the garden.
at this time i will sit and listen to the silence.
the lack of noise brings me peace at times, when i do not have to hear everyone's problems or deal with how upset everyone thinks the world is making them.

Sometimes when I have gotten home from a busy day or spent way to much time with family members, I like to go into my office or out into the garden. At this time I will sit and listen to the silence. The lack of noise brings me peace at times, when I do not have to hear everyone's problems or deal with how upset everyone thinks the world is making them. I have time to actually look into my own views and thoughts and see if they are the way that I truly want them. Do you know what I find?
Well often I find that I am allowing other people to affect me to much. To much of my thoughts come from things that others have said or done to me and not enough comes from what I have said or done for myself. I realize that I often dwell to long on stress from the day, and ignore and let pass by those moments I should have spent more time with. It is interesting to me how much others affect us, how we allow ourselves to think so deep on what they said or did. It seems so trivial to dissect what their words meant or what their actions intended. Yet here I sit sometime in the silent corner of my life, and here are those words and those thoughts breaking up the moment that I wanted to be mine. Why do I allow this?
Could it be because I care so much about pleasing people, or about pleasing myself? Could it be because I am not giving myself enough answers that mean something to me, but rather finding quick answers to let those thoughts file inside where I can forget them? In all, it seems that I am not alone. For on boards like this one and others that cover different topics, I see many thoughts and many questions. I see that no one truly has all the right answers, whether you be 17 or 80 or somewhere in the between. That people question more as they get older, and answers that once mattered have become questions that now warrant no concern. Where does it all lead?
To that corner of silence, that office space or that garden. To the place where I can resolve a little more. Yet learn a lot, much quicker. Listening to the silence, hearing what words need to be said and allowing them to speak. What I find is me, sitting inside wanting to speak more fully and wanting to accept more of what life really offers. Why do I allow this? Because in the same way that I want the garden to grow, these questions and these deep ponderings allow my mind to grow more into that person who has been with me all along. The person who was always strong, the person who was always happy and the person I become every day with each moment. With each question, and with each thought. As I sit here in my office, or my garden and "listen to the silence." That little humming of my active mind. -

They stole some of those songs. I am almost positive I have heard some of the background music in other songs, with one sounding a lot like a Holiday song. Old song, new lyrics.

Do you ever notice how sometimes the brain acts like a time capsule. How sometimes in the most oddest of events, you will suddenly dig up the weirdest memory. I have this happen from time to time with the Witness memories. I will be sitting there doing something like fishing, martial arts or something completely unrelated and "BOOM!" some memory comes to mind that I had not thought of in forever.
The weird thing about it, is that often later I can not get it out of my mind. Kind of like, now that it has floated to the surface it wants to bounce around for awhile and annoy me.
So any new bobbing memories that popped up on you today? -

Pagan? Who said I was not Pagan? :) I am not a Christian, I am into earth based philosophy! Although I tend to study a lot of eastern thought, being a martial artist black belt does that to you. I see all religion as okay, if it works for you. Just as long as people don't try to shove it down the throats of others.

When I left the Jehovah's Witnesses, I spent a couple of months attending local Christian churches. My wife and I did this because we thought the Christian path was still ours. Later we learned that our path went in a far different direction.
The thing is, when I attended these churches, I saw a really different approach to there preaching. For one, they often used forms of entertainment. They had funny skits, bands that sang, choirs, and the speaker actually joked at times to get people laughing and happy. All of these things would have been forbidden on a Kingdom Hall stage. So, my questions is to "why?"
Does learning about religion have to be stuffy and boring? It seems that is what the Witnesses think. If a speaker moved to much, he was counseled. If a speaker spoke to loud, he was counseled. If he used to much humor, he was counseled. Forbid the fact that they ever leave that platform and walk around the stage ... just hang on for dear life and bore us.
The first time I was introduced to new age thinking, we went on a nature hike and set in the trees and felt the life around us. What I felt was the movement of life, and the excitement to being alive. I felt that the universe moves constantly, the wind blows, insects fly around, and water flows in the creeks nearby. In all, the universe is not a boring place, it is entertaining and exciting if we take the time to look at it. So why then would we want to leave that and enter a church with stuffy speakers?
I don't know the answer, but I do know that I can say that not all Christian faiths were like that. About 50% caught on to the fact that life is movement and excitement and caught onto that wave in their presentation of their message. Although I did not swallow their message, I commended their thinking in making the message a little more enjoyable to listen too.
Some will say, "but God's word should be a serious matter." Well then I say, if life was meant to be so serious and so boring, why do we find so much more enjoyment in the other? Is that enjoyment wrong? No, it just means you are hearing the message on a level that appeals to you. Think some time of the speakers you enjoyed listening to the most, I bet they used what little they could get away with to step into a mold of "entertainment."
So no matter what faith you are into now, I am sure none of you miss those long boring Sunday talks. Where you looked up 50 scriptures and bored your mind and ears with a mundane speaking of a man who never moved from the spot he started at.
THE HORROR, THE HORROR!!!
So nice to find my life moving with the wind, and not planted with the tree.
