WT to release tablet computer at next convention?
by moshe inthey could make a lot of money with this business model.
by selling their own dedicated hardware, new e-books wt literature, selling profitable internet service through their own "safe" proxy servers that screen out all dangerous material, and the jws can show catchy pre-loaded wt sales videos to householders at the door or in their studies.. i wonder if they can get a chinese knockoff tablet computer, like the hapiad, down to $99 and still make a big profit?
it comes with wifi - and is preloaded with the wt cd , some videos and other wt junk.. how much could they sell wt approved internet for?- going through their wt proxy screening server to keep us out.. books at conventions- they will have an e-reader version of books for sale immediately- those who want print versions will have to wait- and pay more.. they can bring their wt haipad to the meetings and read the wt lesson on it, don't even have to print them out.. this could have downsides, too - like when the kids figure out how to jail break them in order to watch what they want.. i could be wrong, but i think they could sellout a limit of 1000 $99 tablet computers in one hour after they are released- they would have to have mob control to keep order at the counter.

They could play it up as being at the "forefront" of new technology, a la when the Creation Drama was being played, or when the R&F preached with the phonograph record. I can't see how they would ever go back to "selling" the literature, e-version or otherwise - unless it became similar to how they "give" away the flowers at the end of the District Convention. "For a "suggested" donation of $20, take home a set of these great flowers!" - of course, it's not a suggested amount. Give us this amount or don't take home the flowers.
I don't think Jailbreaking would be a main concern, as the niche of the JW's would be so small so as to not make it worthwhile for an external hacker to break it. For WT approved internet, the device would likely have to be 3G enabled, and with that cost and the WT internet cost, it would be pretty pricey. Keep in mind, it'd be only good for email/web/downloading WT stuff, as the data costs of 3G access would be too high.
For the $99 price point, I'd think they'd be losing money, but probably around the $199-$250, they might break-even. OR, sell it for $99 and make cash on the WT internet service (sell the razor handle and make money on the razor blades).
my $0.02.

Ok , this Trinity Doctrine is messing me up
by KristiKay insome of you may know, i've been meeting with a jw lady, for a "bible" study (i hate calling it that).
i've been trying to end it pretty much since.
i've gotten more insight on their religion...i've blantently said that i don't like the "governing body", i don't agree with the blood doctrine, can't.

I've been reading Luke this evening, and this scripture blew me away. It's after Jesus healed the demonic man and sent the demons into the swine.
From the NWT : Luke 8:38,39
38 However, the man from whom the demons had gone out kept begging to continue with him; but he dismissed the man, saying: 39 “Be on your way back home, and keep on relating what things God did for you.” Accordingly he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what things Jesus did for him."
Is it really that simple?

Fallout 2014
by wobble income 2014 even some dubs must start to ask wtf jesus has been doing for one hundred years, and there is a big potential for many to leave.. what more will the wt bull**it (writing) department come out with to keep the poor little drones feeding the hive, and maintaining the gb's rock-star life-style ?.
the over-lapping generation tripe will be getting on for five years old by then, surely "noo lite" will shine that makes the big a even closer or somesuch ?.
come on chaps, those poor saps in writing need your best ideas.

The "average mentions" thing is the total number of hits that the term "1914" returned on the WT CD for each decade, specifically in the Watchtower mag. For instance, the decade 1990-1999 had a total of 493 hits (added together for each year 1990-1999), and divided by 10 years, gives a 49.3 average for that decade.. This should filter out any abberations, like where one article in the decade had a special article on 1914 etc..
Just shows how slowly, but surely, the doctrine is being laid to rest..

It's probably been done before, but here's the quick and dirty look-up of the term "1914" of the WT CD, and the number of occurences averaged for each year of each decade, back to 1950:
2010 - 18 mentions
2000-2009 - 22 average mentions
1990-1999 - 49.3 average mentions
1980-1989 - 83.1 average mentions
1970-1979 - 60 average mentions
1960-1969 - 89.5 average mentions
1950-1959 - 90 average mentionsFor being the core doctrine of the faith, it sure is gradually being pushed into a dark room. Gradually stop referencing it.. voila, no more problem!

You ever go through extended moments where nothing satisfies you, to the point you wouldn't mind dying?
by miseryloveselders indon't get me wrong, this isn't a call for help or anything like that.
i'm not about to do anything stupid, just feeling a little down and exhausted tonight.
i feel defeated, even though i don't feel as if i'm battling anything.

I know what you mean 100%. I've been that way for a while now. If you've watched the Pirates of the Caribbean, it seems like I've been cursed, with nothing that satisifies. I'm not interested in any hobbies really, am not interested in trying anything new. I have very few IRL friends, and without a solid family relationship, I'm not sure where I'd be. In fact, I recently described hobbies as simply things to fill in the time before you croak. I can't help but describe the feeling as nihlistic (perhaps existential). Maybe it's a lack of direction, so I've been looking into going back to school. Still looking for answers..
