'BELIEVE IT OR LEAVE IT' - a long time faders dilemma.
by nicolaou ini've noticed a lot of newbies aren't bothering with long fades from the wt.
good for them, perhaps this younger, more savvy generation are more comfortable sticking two fingers up to the organisation and forcing their families to make the uncomfortable decisions about associating with them.. i applaud you, you were happy to believe it or leave it.. me?
i submitted my last field service report more than 11 years ago and have been 'fading' ever since, and i'm sick of it.

Terrible Analogy at a Convention
by ApostateDance ini'd love to know what you guys think of this.
brother jackson (from the governing body) had this "neat" analogy at the very end of the convention.
he said; "what if you were watching a football game on tv, and it was the trojans against the fighting irish, and it's been a good game.

I didn't read each entry so someone may have dealt with this. B U T didn't he refer to some of them as being idiots?
That's where you are. This system is dying. We're the event. The universe is watching. We're at the one inch line and some are stopping and looking around and wondering where we are in the stream of time.
RUN!! IDIOT!!! RUN!!!

I have a question on the Circuit Accounts Scam thread
by gubberningbody ini didn't want it to get buried and i'd really like to know.. so i knew pretty much what he was saying was true, but what i don't get is how the creative accounting works.. i mean you have to show expenses on the ledger - and i mean real expenses, like the co/do expenses along with receipts.. you have actual costs for the power coming into the building.
the paper supplies and cleaning supplies.
the vacuum cleaners and mops and other sundry items, and you have to have receipts for all that.. i also know that when you made a "donation" it was off the books at the circuit level as far as accounts were concerned.. but how is money not being accounted for?.

My opinion only, but I don't think anyone gets to live "high on the hog". I believe it is all about prestige. If they want to continue as "CEO's" they need to continue to build or at least maintain the "empire". Just look at the costs of what they are doing in Jonestown, er Patterson.

Just my two bits worth to "gubberningbody". I don't think it is being suggested that they are "cheating". It is just that the system they use is all about extracting the maximum amount possible. And when it comes to money they are masters at condemning the "churchs" and their tithing and collection plates, while doing the same thing in sneakier ways. They have donation boxes everywhere. Several at the kingdom hall, more than you can count at assemblies and now "evidently" even atm's at assemblies. They even had contribution boxes at the homes where the book studies were held. They regularly have accounts reports at the meetings at the local halls, and at assemblies, and always bewailing a shortfall that they just know will be taken care of. LOL

And the "society" gets richer and richer. And the rank and file say "are they not jah's channel?" all hail the SOCIETY or gb or annointed or faithful and discreet slave or whatever, LOL
One of my early memories, prior to the elder arrangement, while I was quite a noobie, was my brother after the noon meeting of the congregation overseers being rather frustrated over this very issue. He was very strong on sending the maximum that they could to the society. Others felt they should make sure to keep enough so as not to force them to squeeze the publishers so much. Those meetings of the higher ranking brothers in the circuits and the "love" shown, LOL, by the arguing and fighting over such tripe should have woke me up to the truth about the truth.

Sorry that we come out on different wave lengths here. I have grown weary of their do as we say not as we do. There are many things that are automatic in this regard and there are some others that must be fought for. When the Swaggert thing evolved they were in with both feet even to the point of siding with and fighting with the evil babylon to strive to avoid paying taxes. Since they changed to voluntary donations, does that mean they were abusing their non-tax status. I think it must mean that. Now when you say what organization would _____ fill in the blanks, you are overlooking that they are not "any organization". They set themselves up as higher and better than all others. There have been many instances where they have tried to squeeze to hard and have had to forfeit their efforts. I am not saying it is or would be reasonable to expect them to say "we know we don't have to pay such and such but here ya go anyway, cuz we're just so great" but when they try to stand apart on a higher moral ground, they deserve higher scrutiny and I think they have shown themselves not overly exemplary in these matters. I think we will have to do the "agree to disagree" thingy here but that's okay for me. I just tire from the constant berating of the rank and file and even others of the world as to what they should do and not necessarily so much for themselves. Like the "you should avoid worldly contamination" but we will use the UN to our benefit. You be totally nuetral, even with your school aged children, but we have no problem with signing our names to documents avowing allegiances to our benefit. Anyway I am way off topic on my own thread, so I will shut-up now. LOL

Yes I know that sir82. But do they utilyze this exemption to the nth degree or do they do their best to fairly contribute where they should. When they do their special projects, even on the local levels, my experience is that they use to the full every loophole available. There are many threads showing how they go above and beyond in using their tax exemptions to the full. Why did they change to donation based payment for the literature. And does that suggest they were flying under the radar when they were selling for a set price.

Does this tell us how desperate they are to paint those who leave as evil??
by therevealer inin the watchtower ?
july 15, 2011 15 this is how they portray ones who simply leave after seeing the light.
but notice how before the article ends they move on to satan and his wicked world.

Just to add a bit on how deceptive they are and I think it is totally knowingly. How many who leave (become apostates in their think) fit the picture painted in that article?? And when those that leave talk about what is wrong with the cult they don't bring in corruptive ideas. They bring up stuff that the society has said and published, stuff that is totally embarassing, not some outside thoughts and teachings.

They give strong counsel to adherents, but what do they do???
