JW's love the old testament!! That is how they are to worship because the new testament is not written to 99% of them. I think they chalk up those "few" odd stories up to "we cant think we know more than Jehovah!!"

whenever i talk to a jw when i rarely see one i bri g up the laws in the ot, like raping of virgins in deut being ok and forced to marry the rapist.
it seems they just are not aware of these laws or any in depth the history or customs of the ancient jews.
is the wts ashamed of the ot and the truth about the jews ?.

dear brothers and sisters,.
with the memorial of christ death so close.
many of us wonder about our own relationship with christ jesus.
ray.. i think you are right. more and more poeple are partaking privately in their home. my parent is one of them that is still in but partakes in the comfort of home, alone. If there was a way to organize a "coming out" party that was synchronized, it would have a profound effect on the good people in the organization. Even if the org came out w/ a national df'ing campaign at least the perhaps tens of thousands of people who would "come out" would know they are not alone.
ka boom indeed

i may be misspelling this guys name, but while i was in patterson doing long-term temporary (before i got accepted longer and moved to brooklyn bethel), this guy was my table head.
he seemed to be really arrogant.
his attitude towards me was very condescending.
thanks lamacool

i was brought up around the truth.
my dad was disfellowshiped when i was young, around 6-7. he was a elder and very devoted even going to jail when he was younger for the truth.
he had a stroke and started preaching things that the society was not teaching and he was disfellowshiped.
Welcome!! I cant tell you how good it makes me feel to see someone learning to trust themselves even though it is very difficult at first. The most important thing you can do in my opinion is never again accept someone elses answer to something if it doesnt make sense to you! It is a mantra I drive into my children all the time and it is very appropriate for all of us who are "growing up" out of the JW mentality.
good luck!

Not to derail your topic but was Mighty auto parts a JW company? I know a few local brothers were involved with that company for a while about 15 years ago in the Wisconsin area.

yes this is the new realization i have just had.. i recently went to a family event which happened to have several witnesses, none of whom i knew, thankfully.. "oh so you're ****'s and ****'s other child, (the evil son that went astray) nice to finally meet you".
anyway my dad comments to me saying that there are allot of nice single girls in the truth.
then he asks me if i've met any nice girls lately.. "well, no dad, it's quite hard to meet new people once... you know...you leave the org.
pig,
i went thru the same anger with my mom. how could these people just give in to the org? When I had kids of my own i came to the realization that I needed to know this stuff left and right so I could pass it on to them. I have always had some suppressed realizations that things were a "little" weird but not until I had to teach this stuff to my kids did i realize how messed up it is. Why cant kids play sports? Because of evil wordly 8 year olds that will be playing with my children. Why cant our children do birthdays? Because giving presents and a cake to my kids is making them more important than god. The list goes on and on.
You cannot be where you are today without going down the road you taken so I am not upset with my mother just in awe that someone could be so gullible in falling for the bs that is the watchtower.

will it put pressure on politicians to approve the keystone pipeline.. should the nation's refineries stop selling as much gasoline as exports.. how does +$4.00 gasoline affect your monthly budget, how do you adjust..
Hey flat, I think those numbers are great and moving in the right direction. More jobs and more fuel produced locally is a good thing. ( speaking from an american perspective ) If I recall correctly a problem here in the US is the number/location of oil refineries. Personally I dont think the solution is simply drill drill drill. Its taking the entire system into perspective. Multiplying your capacity doesnt solve your problem if you cant refine it into a useful product. Common sense policies are what we need. pbrow

So its clear the 1% doesnt care about how much gas costs (besides hating babies and not wanting you to have affordable housing). What about the 2nd percenters, or maybe even the 3rd percenters? What about 11 percenters? Do they care, or are they lumped with the 98 percenters or 97 percenters?
Fuel costs what it costs. The United States should get what it needs from as local a source as possible...... I think my local farmers market says it the best.... Think global eat local.
