The JW religion has just cost me my marriage & my family life

after leaving the organisation 10 years ago i fought with everything i had to stay in my marriage and with my three children.

after a tumultuous number of years trying to maintain a happy family life while living in a divided home, it's finally over.

the religion is single handedly responsible for destroying my marriage and my family.

jambon1... I agree with others here who have mentioned you are still the same great father. Your retribution is giving your children the freedom to be themselves... You have to be more involved with them now more than ever!! Your children are still young enough to get them involved in all the things that normal kids are involved with. YOU ARE THE FATHER! Do not ever feel sorry for that or sorry for standing up for your principles! You can still have an enormous positive impact in making sure that the JW bubble is popped. Give them a normal life and pop the fucking bubble!!

It has worked for me and it can work for you. It will not be easy and it will not be over night but it will be worth it.

They are not "directives" because that would imply that the society is directing dubs to make a certain decision. Changing the name implies that jo blow jdub came up with this decision all on his own w/out the help of anyone or any group.

They're Making it Impossible to Fade

for those of you who have already faded due to family still being in, have you noticed how the noose is tightening?.

if it's not memorial, it's special day assembly.

if it's not that, it's convention or the special talk.

This is simple.... Dont fade! If you are causing yourself that much angst and anxiety your are literally harming yourself by fading. I get that you will lose family and friends but are those family and friends worth making your self sick w/ anxiety??

Make a clean break and then at least you will no longer have to cower in fear in your own skin.

Can they disfellowship my father?

when the elders visited us last week, they also discussed my father.

my mother called them about him.

i get the google alerts for the jws and below is from one of the obits it sent out regarding a sister that was 76 years old when she died:.

joan attended beauty school and was a certified nurses assistant at the manor nursing home.

she was a member of the cowlitz congregation of jehovahs witnesses.

Supporting and encouraging young girls in good worth ethics, helping them be more self reliant are definately ideas based on the devil. Also.... teaching girls to read... nothing good can come of any of it!

(Not)Preaching advice

having recently had an "awakening" - not from reading awake .... i realize i can not preach doctrines i do not believe anymore .

but i do not want the elders to start following my every move, because i also have plans to check other christian denominations.. so i am thinking, should i chat for an hour or two with an old visit and report the hours, should i tell the elders i have some doubts and i do not want to preach for now or should i just stop reporting and avoid the elders attempts to talk to me?

what do you think is the best sollution to get away with this?

My sons first talk

quick backstory:raised a jw, ms, reg pioneer, international need greater work.

i have been da for 2 years, divorced, ex and my son live 6 hours away near walkill ny.. my sons first talk is coming up, in august.

he is 7 years old.

Good on you to go brother... You support him, that is the message you are sending.

Now you need to move back closer to your son or your chance of loosing him is very great. I lived several states away from my children because of work for two years when my two children were that age. That is when I made the decision my job is not worth losing my kids. If he is giving a talk already, without your positive influence he will be baptised shortly after and that is where the difficulties will start.

It may be difficult to get back but your son absolutely NEEDS you close to provide a normal life for him.
