Judicial Meeting

so here you are...sitting with a couple of elders at judicial meeting, and you're asked the following question:.

"do you still believe that the fds is the channel that jehovah is using"?.

now is it possible to answer 'no' without being df, or how would you answer that question?.

I was never asked that question but I have rolled it around in my head since learning of it's popularity.

I think I would claim no comment. Tell the elders that wether or not God is using the FDS is between God and the people who claim to be the FDS. Since I have no way of confirming their claim of spiritual appointment, claims that men have been making for thousands of years, claims that all have exactly one thing in common - NO EVIDENCE, then for me to chime in on the subject would amount to heresay.

To clarify their question... "If you are asking wether or not I put my trust in man, I prefer not go beyond the things written:

In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? - Psalms 56:4

It is better to take refuge in Jehovah than to trust in earthling man. - Psalms 118:8

Do not put YOUR trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. - Psalms 146:3

Hubble deep field photograph

i have always found the hubble deep field photograph, apparently hubbles most important photograph, very interesting.. for those of you who don't know, it's a long exposure or series of long exposures taken over many months of an otherwise completely empty and black region of space.. i was reading some info on it from the uk physicist brian cox, and he explains another dimension to it.. when you look at the deep field photograph, you are seeing a true 3d picture.

each galaxy in the picture are vast distances apart.

some relatively near, some almost the entire edge of the galaxy away.

Exactly, Witness! That light was created enroute because everyone knows the earth is only 7000 years old.

I mean think about it. If the universe is millions or billions of years old then why is it only 2013?

Family is drawing the line in the sand

so my family has obviously been noticing over the past several months that i've been missing meetings and fs.

i've had excuses sometimes, but not others, so my parents are definitely getting that this is more than a long bout of illnesses or fatigue.

i just received an email invitation to join them in service this weekend.

Tell them with all the changes, you don't know what truth is anymore and until that changes, you cannot, in good conscience, go teaching what amounts to "truth de jour", given the heavy responsibility the bible places on teachers at James 3:1:

Hortensia: What puzzles me is why a gay man would want to be a catholic priest, anyway. Why participate in a religion that persecutes them?

There are so many gay-affirming churches out there who have awakened to what the bible REALLY teaches, and doesn't teach, about homosexuality. Society has changed, that's for sure. In the same way those who discovered the world isn't flat afterall, society is moving around and beyond the codgy religious systems who defiantly remain dug in to their comfort zone of persecuting anyone and anything that does not fit with their outdated, pseudo-moralistic, God-said-so theology. Waking up from the JW cult has given all of us the benefit of seeing the insanity of loyalty to a church or belief system.

If people are comfortable with the way things are, they should just go to church. If they want to know what the bible really teaches, they're going to have to put some effort into it.

Need a quote about society answering questions

sorry to post so many topics lately.

trying to get some info for a project.. i'm after some quotes from watchtower that brag how the watchtower society answers any questions jw's have and how christondom don't (or it doesn't have to have the christendom part in it).

any help appreciated.

I'm pretty sure they would appreciate it if everybody stopped asking a bunch of stupid questions and just read the literature. Everything you need to survive Armageddon is in the literature.

Double standing on higher education

jw discourage higher education through conventions magazine etc.

in kindom ministry 2011 july they considered higher education as date, and use alcohol or drugs.

however if you look at the front page of the brochure "jehovah's witnesseswho are they?

Growing up I was a the child prodigy of the family. My folks got a piano when I was 7 and by the time I was a senior in high school I got school release time to spend part of my day at the university to work with one of the music professors.

Music was encouraged. Practice was encouraged. "You could play Kingdom Melodies at Bethel someday."

Then the scholarship offers began coming in. Brigham Young. Phil Mattson School of Music. It was about that time the other shoe fell and I was told that it would be selfish to pursue personal interests over service to God. Higher education would only lead me away from Jehovah.

I pioneered.

the conductor asked for an explanation of what the current 'bible truth' was.

for the first one, 'this generation (matt 24:34) absolutely nobody raised their hand!
