Someone Came Knocking Today...
by titch inwell, an interesting thing happened today, here in southern california.
as i was sipping my morning coffee, i heard a distinct knocking on my door.
the front door was closed, so i didn't open it.

I live in a city where many people worked night shifts, so often in morning service we would knock lightly hoping we'd not wake people up and be told off. With good reason. Who wants to talk about religion when you've worked all night long and just getting back to sleep?

Elder's advice we remember
by Newborn ini remember ones when i was quite tired and low one elder said to me " it says in the bible that the one who endures to the end will survive, so really the only thing you/we have to do is to endure".. wow, gee, really!!
hey well that's a relief and encouraging....thanks.... i think that all that enduring was what made me tired and depressed in the first place..... what do you have to relate?.

He told me my service skills were great and he'd come up with an idea. So he just handed me a regular pioneer application form and told me to think of it. As if I had another choice..

Is the information on JWfacts.com accurate?
by Nobleheart ini'm researching and going through so much material to try and find out whether jw doctrines and beliefs are based on the bible, as well as if they're consistent.
i'm a jw currently and i have many doubts at the moment.
fortunately this site is helping me so much, as there's always someone who's posted the same question i had in mind.

Thank you everyone! Your support is truly much appreciated.
@ TheListener - That paragraph from Isaiah's book is relevant and to the point. And it's a WT publication.
@ sd-7 - yepp it makes sense, I agree with the archeology stand, as well as the society's failed prediction of 1874, thus 1914 as well. I'll also do a study project on this using WT publications and the Bible only, just because I want to prove to my family these dates are wrong.
@ garyneal - that quote would also be helpful. Thanks in advance

Brief Drama Parody: Do Not Let Your Eye Become Wicked
by sd-7 in[drama introduction music].
[brothers move out podium, replace it with a couch, love seat, and a television on a bench.
two teenage girls, who can best be described as jailbait for worldly people, watch an objectionable program together.].

That was hilarious. Sd-7 you've got real talent.
I'm still laughing over dad's retarded question "Do you think God approves of people who drink the blood of others?". It always surprised me that in these dramas young ones are so quickly moved by their parents' remarks and they immediately undergo a 180 turn. Really fake imo.

I'm really happy for all the feedback. Personally I started to awake after a friend told me about the UN involvement. Also someone in service had a book (wish I'd gotten the title now) about all the false prophecies. I was unable to answer her satisfactorily, and the other sister was quite 'stumbled' by what she heard. When I asked an elder at my cong. about the false prophecies (how I could return and provide answers), he said the predictions were indeed false and if someone was exposed to that info, I'd better not return there at all.
@jwfacts - I was made aware only be another poster above that you were posting here. As a JW I really like your site, because it's clear and to the point. Not everyone has the time to read 100s of pages, yours is a condensed review. I'd like to thank you for bringing out so many things that I'm sure bother many JW around the world. And for being modest and open to updates. I haven't found anything inaccurate so far. I only wish other JW would look at facts in an objective manner.
@leavingwt - Thanks for the recommended book. I should really start ordering book online. On a side note, I read your DA letter on one of my first days in this board, and it blew my mind. The logic of your arguments made sense. I was moved by it.
@ Black sheep - You're probably right about not opening up to my family yet. I guess it depends on whether they want it to be the "truth" or accepting facts for what they are. But I'm willing to take your advice and not ruin my chances. I know I still need to convince myself of a number of things. I'll do the list of kings, it's a good idea.
@ Ultimate Reality - Thanks for the link. I'll keep investigating. For one, I cannot teach others things I'm not even sure of myself.

@ Billy
Thanks for your information as well. I had read somewhere that 607 and 1914 came from the measurements of the Pyramids (crazy isn't it), so it's another strong point in contradicting these dates. I don't know about the book of Daniel being myth or not. I've always been open-minded as a JW and once read a book, which pointed that Daniel's book was written much later than what we think. But that's another story.

Thanks Bohm and Leolaia.
I'd love to read books like "Gentile Times" or "Apocalypse Delayed", but they're not available in my small country in Europe. Maybe a Protestant Church carries them, but I wouldn't venture to go there just yet. I wish I could read Crisis of Conscience, and will probably order it online. Also I don't have access to information older than the WT CD-Rom, there just isn't anything in my language older than that (at the KH or anywhere). So thank God for Internet and forums such as this!

Thanks so much for all your answers. I truly do value it as I know some of you have a significant history with the WT.
@ OTWO - I know about the book "Gentile Times", but it's not available here where I live and it would probably take my forever to read and digest all that material. English is my third language btw. Which is why I gratefully appreciate it if someone has done their research and posted their findings in a clear and brief format. JWfacts really presents information in a clear manner imo.
@ undercover - Thanks for your advice, as well as for encouraging me to prove things for myself. I wasn't actually going to direct my family members to this site, I would glean info from there, as well as this site and talk to them about it. As far as I know them, they're not the blind JWs who take everything at face value. So I really hope they will react in a reasonable way to facts which I will plan to present.
I just need to convince myself first of all things and then open up with others. It's taking some time. But considering I 'studied' with JW for 3 years, it's not that bad.
