That we were living deep deep into the time of the end.
I always thought the world situation could get worse.
the thought that a loving creator would violently destroy anyone not belonging to the jehovah's witness religion including billions of babies seemed just not right.. the fact that you could recieve some "acceptable" blood components but could not donate those same lifesaving yourself seemed strange.
you could recieve a blood fraction but you couldn't give it.. any others you can think of?

been listening for quite a while to the many conversations found here on this forum.
i'm a good listener as my friends will tell you.. i am a born in jw, inactive for at least 2 years now.
i originally joined this forum to find out what my husband was "up to".
Welcome applehippie!
hi everyone, someone just made me notice that the pdf document on the u.n. website proving that the watchtower associated itself as ngo from 1991(demand) to 2001 has been deleted or is missing.
http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/pdfs/watchtower.pdf i sent an email (very short since they don't allow more than 200 characters) to the un to inquire.
i doubt that they'll respond.i suspect that the watchtower pressured the un to deleted that link.....
Well it'd be much better if the information is available in the UN official website. I know from experience that JW family members have major issues trusting apostate websites or any info just saved and printed out. So I really hope UN posts it again in their site.
i used to post here a lot a few years ago.
this forum helped me out of the organisation with my husband and 3 boys.. we are now all more or less out and very happy.. me my husband and my youngest left almost instantly we realised the lie.
my middle son gave us a little grief at first and then left when he understood what were were saying.
That's great strawberry! I'm so happy for you and your family, your studies, and everything wonderful that's been going on in your life post-watchtower.
I wish there were more of these success stories from ex-JWs.
as you may remember, i have a jw window cleaner, one who likes to whistle kingdoom melodies while he works.
drives me crazy!
so i put music on while hes here and it stops him.
If you're into classical: Ave Maria (read somewhere a GB liked the tune, even though it was clearly from Babylon the Great).
Gospel is always a great idea to annoy devout JWs.
Amazing Grace
Oh Happy Day!
How Great thou Art (Carrie Underwood)
Prayer (Celine Dion) - I love this one. It's actually more a pop song.
That's if you're actually into Gospel and appreciate that kind of music. I know I found it inspiring, even when I was still mentally a JW.
a thread for all of us who are proud of the united states of american, and proud to be called americans.

oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light.
@ Iron Head
I'm not American, but there's just something about American pride and these songs that I find admirable. I think they inspire confidence and determination. Good for you for feeling this way about your country.
i was considering recently the value and content of talks by reviewing notes i'd taken.. it seems i've taken copious notes but the content was naff.
not because i'd missed interesting bits but the talks were bland 'ministry' adverts.. the talks all seemed to be full of 'do more or god will murder you'.
'feel guilty because you don't measure up.
@Mr. Falcon
I used to take notes like crazy too, almost felt like a university lecture. I had between 20-30 notebook pages. But I rarely reviewed them at home, and when I did I realized it was the same old, repetitive 'counsel'.
That was until last assembly we had in September. I'm sure I won't be attending the next one.
watchtower bethel application from 1982 .
questions asked tell their own story.
today i posted onto my blog the first post-1980 update of the bethel application.
I can't believe they have marks (A - E) for spirituality, alertness, etc
ever so sweetly flow his timeless declarations, .

the robust but mellow verse of our bard of avon.
"If you have a favorite Shakespeare quotation, please feel free to post it here."
I absolutely love Shakespeare.
By all the vows that ever men have broke,
In number more than ever women spoke,
In that same place thou hast appointed me,
To-morrow truly will I meet with thee.
(Midsummer Night's Dream)
I pray you, in your letters,
When you shall these unlucky deeds relate,
Speak of me as I am; nothing extenuate,
Nor set down aught in malice. Then must you speak
Of one that lov'd not wisely but too well;
Of one not easily jealous, but being wrought,
Perplex'd in the extreme. . .
(Othello)
"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."
(Hamlet)

Great point Murray Smith, about blood being the symbol of life once the animal was sacrificed (or in the case of the Lord).
Also in the second page I noticed they say that the Society has weighted matters and determined the components: plasma, rbc, wbc, platelets shouldn't be used because that is how blood settles out naturally. Actually blood settles into serum and cellular parts. So according to the WT definition, serum and clot should be not allowed.
The entire thing of full of flaws. Who is to say that the way blood separates outside the body is a valid indicator for it being still blood? On page 3 they say that "at some point blood that is broken down ceases to represent life and it looses its sacredness". Who can say when that actually happens and back it up with the Bible?
