by Apognophos ini'm hoping someone who has at least a little inside knowledge can help educate me here.
what sort of things does the wbts pay for, on a worldwide basis?.
- i understand that khs are owned and funded locally, at least where the locals can afford them, but what about in poor areas?.

Use to work for a wealthy man with a beautiful house. Would often see one of the GB there. If the guys showed up to mow the grass when GB was there they would be sent away because GB was so special and shouldn't be disturbed by the sound of common folks working.

Are JW'S "hated" in all the world? Or...are they considered IRRELEVANT?
by Terry inwathctower 90/1/1 p. 12 par.
8 not ashamed of the good news .
while it is true that jehovahs witnesses are hated and opposed in all the nations of the earth, this is in fulfillment of what was foretold to be an identifying mark of genuine worshipers of the one living and true god.

World is a big place so no blanket answer, but for the most part I think just irrelevant. Often disliked just because they wake up so many people on their day off. Some hatred, but some people hate Jews, Moslems, Proestants.......as well.

The GB/Wat/Org so down on education while at the same time making full use of highly educated people and cutting edge technology. It's like Dark Ages, when only "ruling class" could get educated.

So I'm 2000+ miles from home on a mission for work. Out to lunch with three other guys from the company, in a sports bar on a Sunday about 3:00-4:00 PM. Crowded, not a roudy place, nice. Football on all the TVs. We sat at a table where we could easily see a TV. Local KH must have just ended meeting and spilled out it's contents because in walks a family of 4 in their meeting clothes and they sit at a table under the TV we were watching. All obese, mom, dad, son, and especially the daughter. Son and daughter probably about 15-18 yrs old. Really had to crank their heads to see the TV above them. They ordered food and ate like they were depending on Armegeddon to save them from their high cholesterol. Next comes in 5 girls. They squeeze into a table for 4. Very pretty girls, dressed nice, my guess 2 or 3 pioneer/cleaners and 1 or 2 still in high school soon to be a pioneer/cleaners. Seperate checks and they were counting their pennies. The son of the family really gets wild and loosens his tie. Next in comes 2 guys, one rugged looking and one geeky. They nod and say something to the girls, probably wishing they could sit with them, they sit at a table for 2 across from the girls. Rugged guy may have had a chance with the girls, geek holding him back. Nice of rugged guy not to ditch the geek, let the geek hang with him. In next were an older stately looking couple, they sat near me on the other side of a partition about 3' high. I could hear a lot of their conversation, talk about others, not really gossip, just general observations and small talk. Got the feeling they were both widowed, getting to know each other, if they were married they would have already known much of what they were telling each other. First family finishes, dad pays with a card and leaves a 5 on the table for a tip, it should have been at least 15. There were others, they stand out so with their meeting clothes on, but those were the ones I could see. Fun to watch.

If the GB really were.......
by pontoon in........ really interested in preaching and teaching the "truth" they would divide themselves up and move to parts of the world where the truth is supposedly taking hold.
don't think it would help increase too much but just think what a motivation and inspiritation it would be to the witnesses in those places.
like jesus pounding dirt with his apostles.

Don't think it would help increase too much but just think what a motivation and inspiritation it would be to the witnesses in those places. Like Jesus pounding dirt with his apostles. They could work out of the branches if they haven't sold them yet, or live right in the territories and spearhead the preaching work. Shouldn't "firmly establishing the good news" be their #1 priority? Who better to do that then GB members? No excuses why they shouldn't do that. Aren't they suppose to be following in Christs footsteps? They want everyone else to make service #1. Through technology they could stay in touch with each other, or meet every 3 months. Of course it would mean giving up their American country club style lifestyle, green handshakes, new cars........ Just a thought, Hudson Valley NY

What was it about Bethel that woke you up?
by cognisonance inone the how many exbethelites thread it was mentioned that some think one either leaves down the path towards apostasy or as a 100% true believer.
i'm curious what experiences did you face at bethel that woke you up (or started to at least)?.

I had a brother in bethel, cleaning dept. Chemicals were taking a serious toll on his hands after the years he spent in that dept. He requested a job change and they told him to leave. Just like that.

1975 - A weak argument?
by Christ Alone ini posted this on an older thread, but i wanted to get an honest opinion about this from all of you.
i think taking the 1975 approach with a jw is...weak.
was it wrong (and false prophetic) of them?

Scrapping the local servant (appointed by congregation vote) was in '71 and it happened because of research that Ray did.
