Acts 8:14 - Apostles are governing body - was this ever taught before?
by berrygerry intoday's wt study (nov 15, 2014 page 4, par 4.. the governing body in jerusalem sent the apostles peter and john to these samaritan converts, and they laid their hands on them, and they began to receive holy spirit.
(acts 8:5, 6, 14-17) .
there are multiple references to acts 15 whereby "the apostles and older men" were the governing body.. i have never noticed this applied to "the apostles" only in acts 8:14 before.. is this another new item to reinforce the concept of the governing body?.

To Blue Dot or Not to Blue Dot. That is the question ....
by Oubliette inso i've been noticing recently that some khs in the area where i live (socal) are putting up the jw.org little blue dot, but others are not.
i would think this would be a mandatory directive from hq.
does anyone here have any intel on the matter?.

When my mom started to study in the early 60's the local KH was an empty space above a grocery store. It suited the purpose and they said it was Jeh's house during the time they were using it. Lot's of catch phrases, Jeh doesn't dwell in hand made temples, where ever two or more meet......., there was a certain humility and non showy attitude with the organization. Today for the most part now they have 1000's of adequate if not beautiful KH's that they feel are no longer up to their standards. How this organization has changed! -

The GB especially should be out there doing it. At least some of them. They could rotate in and out of field assignments. They could live up to "here I am, send me! Of course that would mean leaving their plush offices and green handshakes. I really don't know what they do, we know they don't do the writing, lawyers and financial run the corporation, service dept takes care of cong issues, what do the GB figureheads do anymore?

Breakfast of Champions...... I recognized one person also. She is a girl I dated back in the 70's. I wasn't spiritually mature enough for her so I was dumped, sometime after that she married a bethelite so her whole adult life has been in bethel. I think it is sad she never experienced adult life outside of an institution....a home, family, career, friends from all walks of life, working with husband to financially earn your own way through life, even having pets. She missed out on a lot-----but she did get about 3 seconds in a Wat propaganda video. -

It's not like a scam has to fly under the radar to be carried out. In this area we have near WTF a motel that was originally built by bothers that invested their own $$ into it and it caters to people visiting the farm. Nothing shady about that. Some time ago wasn't their a post here on JWN about a retirement home being built for witnesses or ex-bethelites that could afford it? Now if they ran off with the money that's a different story. So I would question was this presented as a Wat Society project with money being collected in the KH's and the project being spoken about from the platform or was it spoken about person to person like here's an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a great private non Watchtower investment. If it was the latter I believe it could be pulled off, we know how JW's love their get rich don't have to work for it schemes.

My sister was invited to a Judicial Committee
by opusdei1972 intoday i called to my sister and she told me that two elders went to her house to announce her that a judicial committe is waiting her in the kingdom hall this friday.
she told them that she will confirm if she will go.
however, i have told her that she shouldn't go, instead she should ask them to write a formal letter, with signatures, asking her for which charges she should be submitted in a private room with two men (or three?

Stuckinarut2-----That sounds like a great way to handle it. Puts the ball back in their court. It's what I'll do when/if my invitation to a judicial comes, but after over four years now I think they have pretty much given up on me.
