im starting to think so.. i was still somewhat active in meeting and assembly attendance when i first started doubting the jw life.

when i first heard splane give a discourse, it was a real wake up call as to what kind of people are controling this organization.

the next time i heard him speak he was even worse.. as ive seen on this forum, many people have had the same experience.. in slimboyfats thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/251890/1/british-zone-visit-from-david-splane-a-report-from-the-special-meeting-in-glasgow, he noted this gem from splane: if traumatic things have happened in your past then just don't think about it, that's the best you can do until the new system.. this is one of the most irresponsible and rage inducing comments i have ever heard.

Steve2, its those kind of attitudes on mental health that have seriously detrimental effects on the followers. I think its a problem thats as serious and dangerous as the blood and pedofile issues. I wonder how great a percentage of followers have legitimate mental health issues. How many of these people are made worse by the borg? How many are belittled for it? How many are punished for it?

There might not be a mass exodus of people leave when he vomits his skewed view of shit on the audience but i think his words are a real turning point for people who are on the fence about their organization.

ever since mitt romney turned the spotlight on the lds church a growing tsunami of disaffection has been accelerated and brought to a head.. the lds core faithful members are leaving in increasing numbers such that growth has not simply stagnated in the west but it has actively reversed.

to their credit the church is responding aggressively but not only is it too late, it is an impossible task.

you can only paint sh*t so many ways.

I like the NewOrderMormon forum. Its alot like this this one but a little more civil.

I think the LDS need to be a little more aggressive and controling. You can't have a loony belief system and a moderate allowance of skeptisism.

My chat with 2 Dubs yesterday about UN membership

i live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.

me " have you sold many of those this morning ?".

jw guy " oh no we dont sell them we give them away for free" (like i didn't know that).

What is your experience when you stop turning in time?

for the past year or so, i've been turning in just one or two hours of service time.

it has been mentioned to me from an elder "friend" that i'm never seen at any meetings for field service.

i get his implication.

Watkins- its very sad, i agree. They blame the world for their crippling depression. The longer they sumberge themselves in the cult the less likely they will discover the true cause of their dismal state.

When I say I couldn't be better and ask them about themselves, there is always a tiny bit of disappointment that I am not being swallowed whole by Satans system.

Problemaddict- thats happened to me on many occasions. I usually get stunned looks when I say I'm doing great and focusing on the good things in my life. Its especially amusing when I say this right after they spiel on about how hard and miserable it is trying to get by in this system. Where I live no one should complain. I feel like telling them its most likely their religion making their life shitty.

As for not turning in time, my ceasing was quite uneventful
