Another approach - here in Victoria, could we encourage householders to ask jws at the door if they could show their "Working with Children" cards? At the very least it would put a hole in that polite but superior sales image

Not sure what to tell my 4 year old about Santa
by jwfacts inmy adorable little son is very excited about christmas.
i have not made a big thing about it, but he must have picked up the christmas spirit from what he is seeing in the shops and on tv.
he loves the music, and movies and all the decorations.

JWfacts,
My daughter is a realist; at 3 she even doubted when we explained that Santa would come down the chimney and leave gifts. But she still tiptoed out to check that Christmas morning, and one of our happiest memories is how she rushed back in to wake us, full of excitement to share.
20+ years later the kids and I still share Christmas with all the trimmings. Christmas is a special family time and chilren like your son make it magical.
Enjoy!

Bloodguilty?

N.Drew, I understand your position and sorry for my lack of clarity (perhaps I shouldn't post at work )
NRFG,The WT is more than bloodguilty according to Matthew 23:13
Yes, that's what I think also. They have created may atheists and doubters. They have required their members to believe contradictory doctrines that threaten their lives and those of their families, and then changed them with the facile explanation of "new light".
The wt governing body and their "advisors" - or perhaps their owners - are massively bloodguilty.
But the believers are the ones that experience the guilt.

Thank you all! Worse than I thought. Accourding to N. Drew, then, every non-jw, even if s/he has not heard the "good news" is bloodguilty.
And, any jw that was a bit slack in "service", and missed someone who might have "come to the truth" is bloodguilty too.
I'd be surprised if anyone makes it through Armageddon!

Hi All,
Such a scary expression! The thread on Theocratic terms reminded me of this one. I searched and found this thread, which answered some of my questions, but still have some questions. Thanks in advance for any help!
1. The term "bloodguilty" has been used by jws that I know several times. However, I've not seen it in any publications. Is this because the wt avoids using it, or because my reading is limited?
2. What crime(s) make a jw "bloodguilty"? Is it something contributing to murder or manslaughter, covering up sin in the congregation (ie not ratting someone out), permitting a blood transfusion, slackness in field service? Any others?
3. Can a non-jw be bloodguilty?
4. If a jw believes s/he is BG, does this mean that s/he loses their hope of surviving the big A? What must they do to get back into Yahweh's good books?
Thanks again, Retro

JonothanH, I'm sorry you have this to deal with.
She woke up crying in the middle of the night saying she ruined everything.
It's not clear to me; is she sorry for betraying your trust and her marriage vows, or sorry for breaking her religion's rules? Her insistence on involving the elders is a concern.
Still, sincerely hope it leads to better times, Retro

Learn The Theocratic Language
by metatron inafter several shots of liquid derived from fermented potatoes (well, gin gives me a headache), i will help you with terminology that dominates the sad, insular world of the "truth".
privilege - (n.) -an ironic term, carries an opposite meaning.
supposedly something rare and treasured but in the witness world refers to something you want to avoid, like being an elder, carrying the mics or anything else that they want to sucker you into doing.

Very interesting!
From the article. . .
The sign outside the Traralgon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses publicly advertised that the Jehovah’s Witnesses operate a school on the premises by publishing the hours their Theocratic Ministry School is operated, namely each Tuesday night. The Watch Tower Society and the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses, when contacted by the Victorian Department of Justice and by Victoria Police, and even by the media in Victoria, have outright denied that they operate any church-based schools with enrolled children or that they work with children
Theocratic warfare at its finest. So that's why the sign was removed!

My Husband's Kids Have Cut Him Off
by headisspinning inwell, my husband's worst fear has happened.
he told his kids, ages 15 and 10 that he was coming to visit them over the holidays.
his ex-wife limits his telephone contact to one call per week, so when he called them last week to arrange the specific days he would see them, his son told him that he got baptized back in september and would no longer be willing to see his father.. this came as a complete shock.

Dear tec,
You are right, that it was the ex's fault. But the kid was too young to understand that cutting ties with one's father, however imperfect, would hurt both more in the end.
The children of Head's husband also think they are doing the right thing. Also agreed, their mother is acting wrongly even though she is under cult influence and very likely also still hurting and angry from losing her husband.
I didn't mean that he should "cut all ties", and it's great to see from Head's post above that he can still phone with his children.
But forcing visitation when a child is strongly opposed may not be a good idea. I fully believed that my kid would have tried to run away. Doesn't seem to have the makings of a fun weekend, and the risk terrified me.
Headisspinning, your daughter is smart!
