my 13 year old little princess wants to convert..........................to judaism.. .
she asked me today on the way home from her therapist if she had to take the confirmation class next year in the catholic church.
i told her that she didn't have to take it until she was ready to, that it was wholly her decision.
Thirteen is rather young to be making a decision of that magnitude..If she were mine I would suggest she wait for a few years, at least until she gets out of HS. I had a nephew baptized as a JW at the age of eleven and it was a total disaster. I'm think a person needs to be on their own for a while before making these types of decisions.
And all of this advice may be worth what you are paying for it. Just my 2 cents.

Exactly, the only problem is the people who hold the real power, and they are probably not so Idealistic. In any organization, religious or political, follow the money.

Good question Ravyn. People who start revolutions feel they will come out on the top of the heap after the killing stops, and then they can enjoy the good life. In the US, Canada, UK, and Oz a revolution would help a very few at the expense of the many.
I believe that sometime in my lifetime the middle class will have virtually dissapeared, wealth and power will be concentrated in the hands of a very few elite
So, apparently we don't have that wealth and power concentration at the present time. Starting a revolution now would just hurt the masses. The old Soviet Union couldn't produce enough food to feed itself. Most western countrys have an abundance of food. Countries that are running short of food need to look at their political systems.

I enjoy them, altho they are probably not the most healthy things on the planet. Bottom line, idealism is fine but it doesn't accomplish a whole lot, unless it is mixed with reality. Right on the mark. Too many of us take things personally, (guilty) and feel threatened when someone else has an opposing idea.
Wish I knew who said, " when two people agree all the time, one of them isn't thinking". Closer to home, there are very few who don't have disagreements with spouses or children. Wife and I have had disagreements in the past but have managed to stay married for 38 years. Bug
obviously the answer for many of you is, an overwhelming yes.
the reason i am posting this is, for some or perhaps many, they only post or im(instant message/e-mail) other members, but have not spoken to them via the phone.
i'm aware that for some, calling long distance is a financial concern, thus the e-mail thing/im works fine and serves its purpose.
I had been faded for over twenty years when I ran into this forum, and discovered apostofests. During that 20 years I was fat dumb and happy thinking everything was under control. Soon learned that interaction with folks who shared a common background was very helpful, as we all have the same stories/experiences. I've now made friends I thought I would never have as I haven't subscribed to any other religion, and am not involved in any service clubs or really have any fellowship with any organization. Bug

Getting into a fight depends on rather or not the outcome is worth the effort. I have lost my cool on occasion, but regretted it every time. As long as the spat isn't personal, it is best to just back away and let the other fellow blow his/her cool. Wish I could say I've always followed my own advice, but I don't wish to start lying. Bug
how do you feel about euthanasia for people that are terminally ill and have no hope of recovery?
should it be made legal for them to be allowed to die a peaceful death by a simple injection as opposed to dying a painful and agonizing death?
i ask, because a co-worker of mine is dying of cancer and he's in alot of pain.
There is no requirement that the suffering be physical or that the the patient be terminally ill.
No requirement tht the suffering be physical of that the patient be terminally ill ?? In other words this is just a ploy to help the mentally ill commit suicide. Really don't know how that can make anyone feel better. Bug
