Can't fault Witnesses for their level of dedication.

can't doubt the dedication of most witnesses.. .

attending 5 meetings a week; doing 10 hours of fieldservice (door-to-door) each month; working hard for the reward of eternal life on paradise earth; willingness to shun their best friends and family members if these individuals are disfellowshipped from the organization; denying their young children blood transfusions even if it might save their lives; deciding not do any independant thinking apart from their religion; willingness to change their beliefs every time their anointed leaders change their minds on doctrinal matters....the list goes on and on.. .

yes, it's amazing what people without the indwelling holy spirit will dedicate themselves to do.. .

LOL! Satan a hard worker. Sounds like my mom, always finding the good in people.

She's one of the best people I know of, and she's a JW. I have some brothers and sisters who are D'Fed and she still talks to them. They live out of State, tho. She's dedicated to a point, but not an idiot. I think she's just "comfortable" with the JW's and feels she's too old to change. I'm not exactly sure how she feels about their teachings because I don't want to get into it with her and offend her. She lives alone, and it works for her.

The Bethel "Generation of 1914"

some older former bethelites may remember these folks from the cover of a 1984 watchtower:.

this was published during a time while the watchtower society was waging war against the "apostasy" that had started in 1980. one of the issues at stake was the year 1914. these older bethelites were photographed to give tangible proof that the "generation of 1914" would not pass away.

now, nearly 27 years later, they likely have all passed away (along with that generation).. there is a listing of some of the names of these bethelites up at a blog article at this link:.

If Genesis isn't taken literally, who's sin did Jesus die for?

this is an interesting blog post by the author cj werleman - write of the books god hates you, hate him back and jesus lied - he was only human.

he writes with a good dose of humor which usually helps get his point across.. the blog post dissects the latest gallup poll results regarding 40% of americans believe in biblical creationism.

but the point i found interesting in it was that if you don't believe the genesis account is literal....then jesus atoned for the sin of a fictitious character, adam.. here is a quote from the blog...but please give the whole thing a read, makes more sense that way:.

I'll say this for most ex-JW's: they're a bitter, jaded lot. That is, if the people on this forum are a good sample. It's all about taking the word and dividing it by the square root of a knat's ass in order to come up with "the truth". The truth is free, and simple and of the Spirit. There is no spirit in that cult, or any other. JW's can't see the forest for the tree's. It HAS to be HARD. If it isn't, ANYONE who really seeks it can find it. Can't have that.

Untoward Rage towards The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society

my extended family were all jehovah's witnesses from the bible students day.

my father was immense and chosen as a bodyguard to both judge (spurious title) and nathan knorr.

bethel was very small then so he knew fred franz, covington, henshel well.

I have a sister a bit like you. She was a hardcore JW, dropped out of HS to Pioneer. She always hated the strict way she was raised. Faded away, got her BS, then MBA. Very successful in business and went back to school to get her Law Degree. I think she's a bit disappointed not to find the kind of happiness she had hoped for through just education and money. Or maybe she's just realizing how very short life is. She's studying the Bible again. Same with my father, a PHD. I'm all for a University education, but it has its place.

just to give you a little background about myself, i was a born-in, i'm in my late 20's now, i faded away a few years ago after researching the history of the wtbs on the internet.

my fade was aided by moving away with my job(i definately feel lucky about that).

eventually, i had discussions with a couple of my closer jw friends about why i no longer believed in the wtbs.

No one knows how many days they have left. Any of us could drop dead this day. I know Atheists who believe we're on the verge of a worldwide financial collapse and a one world government.

That pic is hilarious. Sex is of the earthly body. I suppose if some spirits took on earthly bodies that may have been something to deal with, I don't know. I've never had the desire to have a rabbit body to experience rabbit sex. But I don't understand some men wanting to shove rodents up their butts, either.

Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?

is homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?

my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.

his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

I have a problem with my serotonin levels. I took Paxil for about a year several years ago, but the side effects were too much. I'd rather deal with anxiety and depression. I did notice that I felt better after eating legumes, particularly split peas. I just couldn't really get the tryptophan I needed by food alone. I started taking 5-HTP after doing some research on the net. WOW! This stuff really works, for me at least. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with taking 5-HTP?
