Remember that they really control a Community
by EdLogan inthere's a lot going on, and a lot of saying.the interpretation of the scriptures, their internal doctrine and their policy change.. the 1914, 1919 and its consequences.. the birthdays and other holidays.. the beard, the tie, the slacks.. the "hi, nice to see you here".. but at the end of the day, what they're in control of, is a community.
a society of people.
and a corporation as well, that controls all this.. many of them don't even really mind about those changes.

Personally, I think the internet is directly responsible for creating the XJW community.
It would have never been possible otherwise, and it has become a support system, in no small part because - by and large - it is accepting of XJWs in a manner that is definitely not the way the WT leadership portrays it.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while
by slimboyfat ini’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.
so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.
maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

The rank-and-file have a “wants list”?
News to me.

Was it Designed?
by Jeffro inthe jw website is currently featuring a piece: the shell of the diabolical ironclad beetle—was it designed?
it is part of their regular tedious 'was it designed?
' series that purports that very very specific animal species must have been specifically designed because of some seemingly amazing feature.. but they seem completely unaware that this directly contradicts their notion that only very broad 'kinds' were required on the mythical 'ark'.

To accept evolution is to accept that the WTS is really wrong about something really big.
Once you go down that rabbit hole, there’s no coming back.
Trust me, I know.

One thing seems certain…
…the days of XJWs despairing that the Org is unbeatable are all but gone.

How the Society can change anything they want
by HowTheBibleWasCreated init's been a long time since i last posted here.
however in light of recent changes i have thought a bit about things and have come to the conclusion that the society might.
.. use the "evil slave" argument.

On some level, they gotta be aware of all the potential blowback.
My guess is, if they really are expecting the CSA scandals to sink the Org sooner rather than later, this is just to try and put off scuttling the ship for as long as possible.
😏

Bingo.
That’s why I have trouble imagining that authentic, full-on mainstreaming can truly work in the long run…
…it would have the net effect of neutering everything they held up as “proof” they alone had “the Truth”, up to and including the claim of “God’s Exclusive Earthly Organization”.
Any remaining incentive to stay would be virtually nonexistent.
Case in point; the “Plain Truth” guys.

Seriously though, I’m inclined to believe it, too…
…simply because just about every authoritarian regime in history, when facing extinction, opted to go all-in at the eleventh hour, come hell or high water.
And they overwhelmingly choose to crash-and-burn rather than concede victory to the “enemy”.
No empire-wannabe has ever stopped wanting to be.
