it is taking longer than usual because i am earnestly applying the exercises as they appear in the book.
which means i have to be ready to change my habits...but enough about me.. zimbardo's argument throughout the book is that a person's time perspective deeply impacts their choices and their ability to be happy.

Elder Missing 24 hours...
by sleepingbeauty ina brother i know of was made up as an elder only some mere 6 weeks ago.
out the blue he has gone total awol and has now been missing over 24 hours.
i wonder if the stress of becoming an elder at 27 yrs old got to him !!!

Well he's still missing & its been 48 hours now. The police have been informed so all anyone can do it wait..
He left to go the meeting. Never turned up & hasnt been seen or heard from since !! Very unlike him... 1 of his siblings was df'd 6 wks or so ago, so it could be something to do with it, but who knows. Could he be a poster on here ? Just hope it is the case that he has finally woken up !!

Are you a TRUE Christian?!?
by brotherdan ini've been thinking alot over the past few days on what makes a christian a christian, and i'm coming to some different conclusions than i ever have.... the watchtower likes to use the term "true believers" or "true christians".
i'm at a loss here lately.

I no longer consider that being a nice person relates to the term Christian. I'm nice and dont look to Jesus in anyway, so Im no longer a follower of Christ. Whats the point ? To be a Christian would mean that you would consider other peoples method of belief as wrong. (Who are we to decide / judge that?)
Just being a nice person is just people being people, without the need for religious involvement. I just dont think a Bible or whatever it is people hold dear is the only thing guiding them through life. My children have citizenship lessons at school as do all the other children & I think this is enough for them to learn to be fair & nice to others ...

They clearly ignored you believing they were doing an act of congregational cleansing as set out in there Elders Manual ! Gods things to God & Ceasars things to Ceasar regardless of the consequences of their actions. They will now feel that since no legal action pursued, Jehovah has looked upon their actions with favour ! :(
Double Whammy I know, but I am sure this is what they felt when they read your letter to the congregation .... They couldnt resist the excitement of it all & it was done as an example to the flock...
Totally Brainless yet will have had the desired affect... Either that or someone within the congregation will think that they acted in an under-hand way & will wake up... !

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?
by Cadellin inthis is something i've thought about for a while now.
it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

I would say that there are an awful lot of women who arent IT / Computer literate (specially those in their late 30's - 40's+) , so because of this they lack the know how to research anything. What is more they are usually rearing children, sorting out homework, ironing etc, whilst the husband gets to play. When they do have any spare time they really don't want to spend it on twiggling buttons when they can finally put their feet up & watch TV....
I number of my friends barely knew how to switch a computer on, so I think Im close with my assessment of things !
Well thats what I think anyhow :~)

Wow, This is Getting Tougher!

i had a service meeting part this week and i could hardly get through it.
i am no longer convinced of some of the things jws teach and so i try to either eliminate those things from my parts, or reword them so that i'm not speaking about that which i do not personally believe.

I think its soo much harder for a brother to fade. Just dont give up guys, because the grass really is greener on the other side.. I woke up to the real Truth October 2009 along with my hubby (hairyhegoat) and our 4 junior to teen children. It is worth it in the end. I am soo glad that were no longer on that Merry Go Round. We just couldnt see how on earth we could get out but we did and never been happier....

My article on Russia's ban of JW's

i recently wrote an article on the various troubles jehovah's witnesses are facing in russia.
i try to make the point that, even if you do not support the witnesses (and most don't) you should support freedom of thought, expression and religion.. if you are interested in checking it out, here it is: "snuffing out religious freedom in russia".

On one hand I would like to say that everyone should support freedom of thought, expression and religion, but then this would still allow the WBTS to continue to exist. So I would say that this right that you speak of would only be good if & ONLY if the JW's didnt exist.. but this obviously takes away freedom of expression so I just dont know what the answer is!
