Farewell from Confused and Alone
by confusedandalone ini use to hate when people who made goodbye posts on message boards.
why would they think that just because you no longer post on a chevy truck forum or a los angeles lakers forum the world would crumble around those still left there.
this place is definitely different.

1975 end prediction
by FL_Panthers indoes anyone have the article written by the wt saying that the end would come in 1975?.

I was there. Every decision we made in the late 60's and 70's was based on the certainty that Armageddon was coming in 1975. There was even a prediction from a scientist in the old blue book "The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life" that said that animal life would be dead by the year 1975 due to polution, man's ruining the earth. The song "Chrytal Blue Persuasion" was written about the "Truth Book." That is what we called it. Anyone who was a JW in the late 60's & 70's knows what they were teaching. It was in all assembly parts and taught from the platform. If you didn't believe, you were considered spiritually weak or apostate. Later, the society denied they ever taught it. Many, many people left as a result.

In Reading Over My DA Letter Of 9 Years Ago, This morning...
by Littleleslie inthis morning after coffee, in reading over my da letter from jehovah's witnesses which i posted publicly on the net, (june 2nd, 2005 exactly nine [9] years this day), i noticed something interesting, something that i said about the "wine of her fornication" [rev.
14:8; 17:2; 18:3] that could be given even greater attention to today, more so than when i wrote about it back then.
i wrote in my da letter:.

Leslie, I wouldn't give a seconds thought to what they are going to change next. They are a cult, you know that!

Anyone recall a time when your congregation came to the aid of a Brother or sister in need??
by jam ini'm not talking about a individual, but a congregation as a whole.. i'm talking about a brother or sister that really hit hard times.. have there ever been an occasion where the brothers (elders).
decided to dip into the kh funds and help one in need????.
example, brother loose his job, get evicted, family of four or.

We had a lot of collections taken for people in need. They would make an announcement that someone was in need and to see Brother So and So and he would collect the funds. The congregation funds were never used.

The resolution was actually passed!
by stillin inwho would have thought that enough people would raise their hands when the resolution was put before the congregation tonight?
based on the pledges that the publishers put on those little pieces of paper, the congregation is promising the wts that they will send $1,000/month to support the society's building funds.. there is a traditional monthly shortfall of about $100 with the basic monthly bills usually around $1,000.
i didn't raise my hand.

I sounds to me like a lot of people in your hall are depending on others to come up with the money. People sit passively and let these resolutions get passed and they personally have no intention of contributing a cent more that they already give. "Let George do it."

I was "totally" stopped in my tracks by an "atheist" comment.
by booker-t ini must admit i can at times be a little "egotistical" when it comes to knowledge and the bible.
i have studied the bible for so long and have always had a passion for the bible as a jw and as an ex-jw.
i guess that is all i have left when it comes to religion and as humans we do tend to stroke our egos.

Once again, I highly recommend the book "The Atheist's Book of Bible Stories," by Fred Titanich. What an eye opener. He really lays it on the line. Now I know that the one book I have spent thousands of hours studying and thought I was an expert on is really not worth the paper it's printed on.
