well this was no surprise to me that my dad was doing this.
m df brother went round last night to borrow some tools and my dad just had to mention that he was dissapointed with the family and how we don't go to the meetings anymore.
he told my brother that he could not have a proper farther son relationship as he does not share the same faith and hope for the future as him, and if an emergencey situation was to present it'self then he would be their for him.
HHG,
I understand what shunning feels like. My two grown kids shun me because I'm df'd. They can't wrap their head around it that I don't want to be a JW anymore.
It still hurts, though. The JW religion tears families apart.
Can you feel the love?

i've been called a "fundi" many times in my discussions with people on the board, and i'd like to know what your definition is of a "fundi".
don't google it.
i just want to hear your personal definition.. i find it interesting because i don't go to any church.
Christians believe in some extreme stuff, like the murder of Jesus Christ. Sounds like God by whatever name is a horrible father. Christians might be said to have a punishing belief system. And each time the bread and wine are passed, it could be likened to re-killing Jesus.
Gnostic Christians, on the other hand, believe that Jesus survived the crucifixion and raised a family with Mary Magdeline --- far away from the would-be murderers.

Fundamentalists are fanatics.
There are many of them around and they all think they have the Truth TM and the only Truth TM .
Fanatics do crazy things because of their wonky belief system; that is, the closed mind.
I believe that JWs fall into the Fundamentalist category. Even upon leaving, often they will slip into another funadmentalist belief system.
For some, Religion is like an addiction---"the opium of the people."
"By their fruits you will know them."

so i ran across this statement today in doing some research:.
take, for instance, the stories and legends regarding the origin of man.
although details vary, the belief that man was made from the dust of the earth is widespread.
Let me see... which came first...1901 or 1984...? *scratches head*

i just looked up some population statistics.
i saw there are over a billion children under the age of 10 on the earth today.
(didn't research too hard - just googled it.
of course...Jehovah is a god of blood and a god of war.
certainly not a god of love by any stretch of the imagination!
But I agree with flipper. There is no such thing as Armageddon.
