Growing hair above my upper lip! Buying a 2-door car. Buying a motorcycle that I rode to the meetings and in service just to piss off the hounders. Playing hockey on a regular basis...should be random and not organized and if I didn't stop I would be removed as a MS. I told the elders who admitted watching TV an hour or two everyday that this was actually worse than me playing hockey for 90 minutes on a Friday night...Fathering children during the 1975...what are you thinking! These children have grown up and have children attending school!

what is the dumbest thing you've been reproved/chided/df'd for?
by rather be in hades ini'm a big science nerd and i remember when we were going over the creator book, that the big bang doesn't necessarily prove there is no god.. i said this comment during book study and the conductor's jaw dropped.
everyone was pretty uncomfortable and it didn't help that he ct me off as i was explaining the red shift and mom wasn't too happy about all that.
i had to do a lot of bible research and write some nonsense about how the big bang was not reality or some sort...ugh.. .

The REMOVAL of many books
by irondork ini understand the wts encouraged or instructed the congregations to dispose of all books printed before the year ????
they didn't want this old light (aka.
apostate literature) floating around their libraries.. did these instructions come via a wt article or was it a letter to the elders?

In my house all WT publications (except for those recently used by my JW wife) have been tossed in a dumpster...I told my wife that these old publications were what caused me to stop believing in the WT and if anyone held what they contain as the "truth" they would be labelled as apostates and disfellowshipped! But as always she heard what I said but her mind has been programmed to block anything that is a threat to her faith.

For those in any doubt that the Society is at war with Facebook...
by cedars in...take a look at this from page 29 of the latest october 2012 awake!.
the gloves are now well-and-truly off.
referring to facebook as a "social networking website" clearly isn't working.. the society now feels compelled to start being more specific about which websites it doesn't want you to visit!.

If Facebook keeps such extensive records what would deleting your account change? Nevertheless, JWs will see social network site as evil and that's what mother wants.

Anonymous And Pro JW Discussion Forums
by DT inregardless of your opinions of anonymous, they have been busy working against the watchtower society and may end up inflicting some serious damage soon.
anonymous has a very different culture than the xjw community.
they should not be seen as in alliance with us, even though we share some common goals.. anonymous tends to resent being viewed as a personal army for another person or group.

JWs knocking on your door will use the movie theatre shootings to convince you that the Bible predicted such events would occur in the last days - and if you want to survive the destruction of this evil world you live in you better join them now and run to the KHall to find refuge...
The only lowest thing they do is to use a funeral talk to spread their propaganda to the unbelievers attending...

New Article - Birthdays, Why the Watchtower stance is wrong
by jwfacts ini have a new article at http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/birthdays.php outlining why the watchtower stance against birthdays is wrong.
there have been a number of threads on jwn discussing this, and the article collates and summarises the points raised in these threads.
please feel free to point out any errors in grammar or logic.

JW Facts,
Thanks for your concerns. I am not totally alone. My JW wife and son, wife and grand children live with me. My daughter and one of my brothers are not JWs...but I never had contacts with literally dozens of cousins except at funerals of my uncles and aunts...my mom had 20 brothers and sisters and my dad 7, and they allhad large families, but none were JWs.

For me it was a long time coming although I managed to "hang on" and serve as a MS almost to the end. My excuse to fade was a new job that had me travel extensively so I missed many meetings and service. I asked the elders to remove me as a MS because I felt I was no longer an exemple for the congregation, especially after a CO visit where we were told that work should come secondary to our service privileges. I was not at the meeting when they made the announcement but my wife said that many were surprised and sad. Then there was the DC in 2010 where I heard the famous "generation" talk - that same day we also had the WT review on the same subject. I watched the audience and there was zero reaction even amongst the elderly sitting at ice level. I just couldn't believe it. On the way home I told my wife that I had attended my last meeting..of course there was a lot of tears...since then she doesn't put up a fuss and we avoid discussing religion. After a year two elders came to visit me, but I kept them at the door and told them I knew where the KHall is and that I would call them if I felt I needed their help...that was their only attempt to bring me back. Since I left, the phone never rings for me and likewise I avoid all contacts with JWs even when they invite my wife and extend the invitation to me. This way no one get their hopes up that I may come back.

As always, great article JW Facts!
Forbidding the celebration of birthdays and other "pagan" holidays is meant to isolate JWs from their unbelieving family and to strenghten their hold on their members. It is a tactic used by all cults. In time the JW's life revolves around his newly found "family" and he has very little or no time at all to spent with his "fleshly" family...he has less and less things in common with them while all the "love" he needs is found in the congregation. This love from his "spiritual family" is conditional to his attending meetings and following the guidance of his new "mother" - the mighty organization.
I have left the cult 2 years ago and I no longer have "spiritual" brothers and sisters...and since I was a JW for 50 years, all my unbelieving family are now strangers to me because I never showed them the natural affection loving family members show each other...I am sadden by the fact that I will not have enough time left in my life to make up for the lost time and to regain a love I traded off for "conditional" love from cult members.

The Pharisaical Laws of JW's
by Emery ini remember hearing from a former elder of a situation he found himself in while conducting the old weekly bible study.
that morning only one male was present during the morning study, however that brother forgot his tie.
under instruction from the slave, any brother not properly dressed for a meeting is not to have any congregation priviledges (hold mics, talk, attendent, magazines, reading).

Hey Blondie,
I was visitning my wife's relatives on the Canadian West coast and we attended the week night meeting...her cousin was conducting the MS and he was sitting at a table on the platform on the opposite side where the sisters give their part...After the meeting I asked him where he got the idea to sit there...he asked why and I replied that was quite a poor vintage point to see a brother's gestures, facial expressions or even communication with the audience...I guess he assumed that if the CO did it at the assembly hall he could also...

The biggest enemy the Watchtower Corporation faces now is "The Truth"
by Finkelstein inthats my opinion because the wts really has been preaching false information now for so long about the end times and armageddon soon.. also the doctrine that jesus chirt has taken a position over his earthly and heavenly kingdom in 1914 .... etc.
its been a winfall marketing scheme for such a long time, which now really doesn't have much leg to stand on.. time in conjunction with reality has made the wts's doctrines redundantly weak or useless more or less.. i'm even believing the leaders of the wts are even starting to know this for themselves.. the wts future and its main supporting pieces of literature, the watchtower and awake magazines may eventually be tossed aside.
for some new doctrines as well newly named pieces of literature .

My wife, son and his wife have just returned from the DC and they looked depressed and worn down - I am so glad I missed this "refreshing" spiritual banquet for a second year! I can't wait to hear some of the highlights in the coming days...I guess the "truth" is also getting long in the teeth for them too...but it is still not enough to wake them up.
