The cover picture is not realistic because when you become a JW all your worldly friends got to go...even those from your childhood. You then replace them by conditional friends...so when you leave the cult you are without friends.

Why JWs don't celebrate Mother's day
by Laika inin the uk, this sunday is mother's day!
ask a jw why they don't celebrate holidays and they'll tell you it's because of some nefarious pagan connection.
but this is really just a cover.

Petty Gambling
by konceptual99 inaccording to the shepherd book.... .
the elders do well not to involve themselves in what individuals do with regard to petty gambling solely for entertainment.
they may need to give counsel if this becomes a cause of stumbling for others or affects the spirituality of the individual or the congregation.-w02 11/1 p. 31.. .

There was a MS in our circuit who tried out for Canadian Idol...he wasn't select but his tryout was on TV...he was deleted because JWs should aspire to be idols...

I can relate because I won 50k with a free ticket from McD when I was still in and a MS. I did some research in the publications to get "Jehovah's" view on the matter. The oldest articles stated that it was left to your conscience to accept or not since technically you hadn't wagered any money to acquire the ticket. The most recent article reversed "Jehovah's" view by saying the money was raised through a disaproved activity and accepting the prize money would be like accepting diamonds as a gift knowing they were stolen. I seriously considered not claiming the prize not to lose my service privileges. This got me thinking of another situation where it is OK to accept blood fractions acquired through blood donation...an activity disaproved by God... One year later I found TTATT and left the cult and I am very happy I didn't forfeit the money as it would have been another poor decision made under the wise guidance of the WT.

FP In my opinion it's impossible to fade if you still want to be socially engaged with JWs...they will remain friendly until they figure out you no longer want to be a JW. You will end up loosing all of your friends anyway and risk of being pursued by the elders. I know the only reason any JW would befriend me would be to reactivate me and then I may be able to be part of their social life. I have made new friends who have unconditional love for me and I just want to stay away from the elders.

My congregation is made up of tired, depressed and delirious people on medication...half of which see the destruction of billions of people as the solution for all their problems by their loving Jehovah. The other half are realizing they may die before the end and now they're in panic mode to make up for their retirement or to pay the debts they thought they wouldn't have to. Google Jehovahs witnesses for news...child abuse and murder suicide come up...Surely not what you should expect for the best lifestyle of JWs.
By the way people living in North Korea are also told they are happy...and they better believe it or else!

Hello, I am new
by LillyC ini am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.

Welcome Lilly. I am an inactive JW, meaning that I haven't been to a meeting or preaching door to door for almost 4 years. When I stopped going to the Kingdom Hall not one of my JW called on the phone or visited me to ask about my absence...some I have known for 15 years...people I went out for dinner with every week, traveled abroad for vacation with, some who would hug and kiss me at every meeting. I even see them going door to door on my street smiling and talking to my neighbors...they skip my door. I gave 50 years of my life to the Watch Tower organization only to find out they are a fraud and do not represent God. The comment by FL_Panthers really reflects how they use false reasonings to take control of people. Remember even liars tell the truth occasionally. Don't let them tell you what you believe is wrong only to replace it with their lies.
