The Hotel pool was full of kids...at least they were enjoying some kind of vacation...as it may be all their parents can afford. I hated wasting half of my 2 weeks of vacation to go to the DC. We had to camp because my parents couldn't afford a Hotel with 4 kids. I remember a trailer park near Newark NJ...a gravel lot with trailers side by side.

JWs everywhere!
by NVR2L8 ini'm traveling through the us on my motorcycle and yesterday i tried to get a hotel room in indianapolis.
the first 3 hotels were sold out and when i finally found a room i realized that everyone in the hotel were hispanic and wearing lapel id cards for the convention.
the other rider accompanying me is the only active jw i'm friends with so i had to be careful how i handled myself with the brothers...of course he engaged some of them but i managed to keep my conversation to a simple introduction.

I watched some of them at the restaurant and they hardly talked to each other or even smile...I felt sad for them and I'm am glad that I no longer have to submit to the same regimen and mind control. I hope not to have lodging problems on the rest of our trip.

Do You Ever Think That You "Loved" Jehovah God?
by minimus ini really wonder about that.
.
just like they say in prayers, that they "love" the governing body---do they really??

I imitated my parents and the ones at the kingdom hall...pretending that I had a relationship with Jehovah...Usually kids grow out of the "imaginary friend" phase...it took me 50 years to grow out of mine.

They finally left...now I can enjoy life without JWism and repetition for emphasis...One of the things I discussed with the brother in law was how it would have been impossible for 8 humans to take care of the animals in the arch when hundreds of employees work at the city zoo...his reply was that god could have miraculously sustained the animals so they didn't need to eat and didn't produce manure...the same answer was used to explain how animals migrated to their current location and multiplied to fill the earth all in only 4000 years...

DF'd for Blood Transfusion
by lambsbottom inso, what is the discipline, if any for a blood transfusion?.
-
NVR2L8
I believe accepting a blood transfusion equates to de associating from the cult and in the view of the congregation members it is the same as being disfellowshiped. The announcement would be the same....so and so is no longer a JW.

Hey Steve... I have never had issues telling people to f..off. My wife is still in so I choose to keep the peace over confrontation even if I have to put up with her JW family (or mine) who all live 300 miles away. What's a little restreint for a week or two a year. And by the way if you read my post correctly you may understand that I challenge their beliefs in a manner that may get them thinking rather than completely shutting them out.
Thanks Blondie for the references. I would show them but like most JW they prefer staying abreast of the new light of the day and the local gossip.

I keep silent too GT but they haven't figured it out because all they do is parroting without giving what they say any thought. So the 3 of them have monologs, not conversations...
On another note, I picked up the tab for breakfast at the restaurant when my brother in law was planning on treating us. I said that I was happy to do this because I know they live off a fixed income. He said I was insulting him and his typical JW answer was that gifts have value only when it involves a sacrifice of some sort (widow's 2 coins vs rich man's excess). I told him I didn't suscribe to this idea...A gift should cause joy for the giver as much as the receiver. In fact how could I happily accept a gift if I knew it represented too much of a sacrifice for the giver or that he would be left needing...

I edited a text but an error occurred and all was lost...I just can't take the congregation talk and the silly children's jokes and play on words. They brought entertainment...30 years old movies...and instead of having meaningful conversations they parrot WT propaganda.
I had an hour alone with my wife's brother and he said that my wife was sad that I have left the truth. I replied I couldn't go on living in a faith that focuses on the bad things going on in the world or believe that happiness only possible by destroying billions of humans at the big A. He said world conditions were getting worse and I replied this wasn't true, that he only believes this because that's what is being repeated over and over at the meetings. On the contrary, living conditions have never been better and although there are some problems, I prefer living today than any other time in known history. I told him none of my neighbors deserve to die simply because they are not accepting the WT magazine. So he replied that Jehovah reads the heart and that he would not destroy those who were not presented the message...so I said why do we preach if the people who never hear the message have a better chance of survival? His reply was that we have to start teaching some of them now because who is going to teach the resurrected ones during the milenium? I said the politically correct answer is that Jehovah sees the heart, but if he checks the teachings of the WT he will find out that only the ones associated with the organization will be saved. At one point of the conversation he said his poor education didn't allow him to debate or reason with me and that it was easier for him to follow the lead of the loving brothers in the congregation.
At that point I said that we should stop discussing religion and I told him to keep this conversation between us because his elders may reprimand him for debating with an apostate. He said he was visiting his sister to encourage her to continue in the faith...
In closing I just wanted him to know that I didn't leave the JW because I was depressed or because I was stumbled. I left because I realized that what is presented and repeated at the Kingdom Hall has no divine inspiration and is nothing more than the views of imperfect men that have a history of being wrong.
