Huge court victory against JW grandparents trying to indoctrinate their granddaughter!
by marmot inhttp://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/jehovah-s-witness-grandparents-ordered-to-keep-faith-to-themselves-1.3282193.
a pair of devout jehovah's witnesses have been ordered by a b.c.
provincial court judge not to talk about religion in front of their four-year-old granddaughter.. the couple lost their bid for unsupervised access to the girl because they insisted on taking her to worship at their faith's kingdom hall despite the repeated objections of the child's mother.. the girl is identified only as a.w.

I wonder if the WT provided legal advice to the grand parents to avoid the impact of an unfavorable judgement would have on similar cases in the future? -

Remember when you could wear casual clothes to the congregation book study?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini would get home from work, eat dinner, shower and put on jeans,a shirt and gym shoes to the book study.
then, one day a letter was read where men would need to wear a suit and tie and the woman would have to wear dresses.
it was stated in a letter that the change was due to, '' giving a better witness to anyone who would watch us walking into our local congregation or a neighbor's house.''.

Late 50's until the book study was merged with the midweek meeting, I never wore casual clothes. In fact the only piece of clothing I was exempted of was the suit jacket because the homes didn't have air conditioning. Even as a child, we had the book study in our home and we had to dress as if we were at the kingdom hall. -

My moment of clarity was at the 2010 DC when I watched all the old timers, sitting in their reserved section, bob their heads in approval and applaud profusely while being told of the new understanding regarding the generation...I realized that all of them would be dead in 15 years and that I had no desire to fill a seat in that section.

Faulty Reasoning to Promote God's "Name"
by Dissonant15 inas i am newly awoken, i am daily having epiphanies & revelations now.
i've been casually wondering to myself since the propagandist broadcast about the name "jehovah" if it would be more proper to call him "yahweh" to myself.
well tonight the answer suddenly came to me: it doesn't matter.

I honored my dad's name without ever calling him Charles. I'm pretty sure he would have been insulted if I had called him Charlie because everyone around knew him by that name... -

I've decided to make a difference that REALLY matters
by Mrs. Eden inhello friends!today is a sad day for me, as seven months have gone by since my mother passed away after a decades-long fight with breast cancer..
because the witnessing/preaching/teaching work doesn't make any sense to me anymore; because it's not about any "truth"; and because it's basically useless, i've decided to quit doing it.
instead, i've decided to do something that actually can make a real difference in other people's lives.

Good for you Mrs E. I know the feeling exactly. Since I no longer slave for the WTBTS corporation I have volunteered for different causes - raising money for prostate cancer, sick kids hospital and recently epilepsy. Since I was accustomed to be turned down or ignored in the door to door work, I have no issue canvassing and asking for donations. Group activities such as motorcycle rallies and fundraising BBQs are fun and a great way to make new friends. Mrs E you will find it very rewarding, much more than anything you may have done for the bOrg. -

Do you find it hard to be around active JW's now?
by EdenOne ini do - actually, it's become close to unbearable.. and herein lies the paradox: i tried to fade in the illusion that i might keep contact with family and friends still "in".
was it worth it?
because not only most of them shun me anyways, but i find it almost unbearable to be around them, especially when the cult chit chat kicks in: every cute animal video clip triggers endless comments about glimpses of the future paradise and how "god did it"; those greasy praises to the organization and the governing body; the dumb awe about every jw broadcast and those cheesy music videos; the endless drivel against other religions when one knows perfectly well that we're no better than them; the endless flow of "experiences" of field service or spectacular conversions into "the truth"; the relentless congregation gossip; and so on .... i ask myself: is this why i am fading for ...?

Except for one active JW who never talks about the cult in my presence I have no contact with any old "friends" from the congregation. Even family members who rarely visit avoid JW speak in my presence. A while back two of my wife's relatives attempted it and when I started asking questions they couldn't answer, they cowered and shut up. Even praying at mealtimes stopped without me saying anything. My wife will not say anything about her JW life because in fear of some comments I may make that would have her question the cult. Said isn't it, especially from people who claim to own the absolute truth. -

I watched it and I recognized one of the ex JW at the beginning of the program. I know the JW spokesman as he is a family friend and was instrumental in getting my family in. I hadn't seen Léonce Crépeau for more than a decade and he is just a shadow of the man I knew. He methodically recites the same politically correct JW message of peace and love under the kingdom rule. I was disappointed to hear him say that we don't shun our children when they decide to leave the religion, justifying his comment by saying that it would make no sense to go door to door to make converts and then kick out own kids out. I liked how the director opposed each side of the story, letting the viewer come to their own conclusion. Sadly though the few JWs who may have watched this program will see the ex JWs as bitter mislead people who are out to persecute them...My own JW wife didn't stay to watch. I told her I saw our old friend but she didn't show any interest in knowing more.
