Don't let the JW tell you that the negative information about JW on the Internet is controlled by Satan and that you should expect to be persecuted because the devil doesn't want you to learn the "truth". Your family loves you and they don't want you to fall victim of a cult.

Welcome G Skero
Use Google and research the Watch Tower....maybe your family has and they are not blinded by the "niceness" of the JWs who are studying with you. As a JW you will no longer celebrate birthdays or holidays and you will replace your family with your new brothers and sisters and spend most of your time and resources supporting the WT organization. I was a slave of the WT for over 50 years and I could no longer let someone else decide what I should think or believe in. I left and lost all the conditional friends I had in the cult. Now I am trying to reconnect to the family members I ignored all that time because they didn't believe in the JW truth...

Fate, chance, divine retribution or sh*t happens?
by eyeuse2badub infate, chance, divine retribution or sh*t happens?.
so i described a cordial conversation with my jw wife and super-duper jw mil last week in which they encouraged me to ‘return to jehovah’.
i told them that i would not be fooled thrice.. later that week we were discussing a fine mutual jw friend, ‘brother x’, that met with a very untimely death.

In a yearbook a few years back there was this story about a plane crash that destroyed the home of JWs while they were at the meeting. The not so subtle message was that being at the meeting spared the JWs life and that they would never miss another meeting. What saved them had more to do with not being where the plane crash occurred...they could have been at Walmart, the beach or in a church for all that matters...But try explaining this to a brainwashed JW and he will call you an apostate.

Convicted Child Rapist Proselytizing. Is the Community Aware? Is the Community Safe?
by freemindfade inwow, this is awesome.
this really shows the jw passiveness towards child sex abusers.
there needs to be more of this exposing this!.

I noticed the same thing as Freddo. It is strange how JW are supposed to stand up to persecutions but in this case they cower, hide and run away. I wonder how they are going to keep this dirty secret under cover from the brothers in the congregation?

Why THAT talk? Why NOW?
by dubstepped inin another thread there's a discussion about how the show must go on and meetings weren't even slowed down by the deaths or medical emergencies of ones in the audience.
for instance, one young brother's unbelieving father was murdered locally.
not long afterward he's assigned a part on an assembly about the resurrection or something.

It happened to my wife who had a school assignment on how to comfort someone who lost a loved one just a few weeks after her dad died. She started sobbing in the middle of the talk and couldn't finish. It was the last time she participated to the school and she even stopped commenting.

Necessary Family Business (NFB) is now acceptable according to the weekly WT Study
by Quarterback induring the last decade i've seen so many articles, and top speakers try to downplay that nfb policy.
now, this weeks wt study mentions a positive experience of someone applying having, "contact and applying nfb with a df relative".

I don't see anything positive in the WT statement. The blame is still on the son who caused grief to his family by leaving and it's obviously his fault that he is being shunned. The the son has to fully comply to the WT rules for his family to resume their relationship.

Freddo
I believe the gentleman is a teacher at a Christian College in our town. What impressed me was that his wife was as knowledgeable and when they tried to engage my wife she was totally clueless of what we believed...she's still is and won't hear anything against the WT.

Konceptual99, I made that exact comment to a householder who had cornered me using my own bible at the door. I told him I would return with answers to his questions but he insisted that I only use the bible. He predicted correctly that I wouldn't return...obviously I listed him as an apostate. 15 years later I still remember his name and address. I have often thought of knocking on his door and thanking him for contributing to my awakening.

Who was the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses? JW Org states it was not Russell
by ToesUp infound this article in the about page on jw org.
i was a born in and was always taught charles taze russell was the founder.

Of course the Watch Tower has Jesus Christ as its founder...Charles Taze Russell only lead a group of men who were keen to re-establish true Christianity...blablabla. I don't blame them for trying to distance themselves from CTR who's writings are utter lunacy.
