  Need your help

  i have a favor to ask and it's a problem that's been driving me crazy for weeks.. my site freeminds.org is on a virtual server system (site5.com) where it can not go down more than a few minutes, or a copy server kicks in.

  but despite numerous chats with the techs with little results, here is my dilemma:.

  currently the site has been displaying this picture, from yesterday am to the rest of today:.

  Jehovah's witnesses and control, what are your thoughts ?

  as i reflect on my life as a jw i remember how the religion attempts to control so many aspects of your life.

  i decided to make a list with examples of the mind numbing number of things that they feel they have the right to control in members lives.. 1 what and how much education its members are entitled to pursue.

  the witnesses look down on formal secondary education.

  Recovering, you are 100% right! The control is established in a very subtle manner: WT direction will say that each one decides for himself but then they tell you what a mature Christian would do, how you will have to answer to God for your decision or they depict the negative conscequences for those who rely on their own wisdom. Humble people are whom God loves...by submitting to the WT you are showing true humility...

  One of the things that made me realize I was being controlled was when we received the WT folder depicting how JWs must dress to visit Bethels...the one that is posted on every KH buletin boards. Every detail including the type of shoes one should wear was discussed several times during Service Meetings. When you think about it, why would you have to dress in your meeting clothes to visit any other printing facilities, warehouses, garages and workshop? Would Bethel workers be stumbled if visitors came dressed in casual attire, similar to what they wear to work? Would the WT refuse access to non-JW visitors because they are not in their best attire? Surely not! But JWs are controllable...Bethel workers at our branch have to change into meeting clothes in order to eat at the cafeteria...so at lunch time a liftruck driver or mechanic has to go to his room, change in his meeting clothes, eat his lunch, got back and change into his work clothes, back to his meeting clothes for dinner...what do you call that if it is not control?

  I can recall students jeopardizing their school year by missing end-of-year exams because their DC was the first of a series within the same region...all they needed to do is to attend the next week end...but why make thing simple when you can make them so complicated!

  Most entertaining platform misdeed.

  many years ago before assembly halls we used to hire large halls for circuit assemblies.

  the public talk, always after lunch on the sunday was always the big (though boring) event.

  the chairman sat on the stage all the time whilst the speaker for the hour long talk droned on.

  Our bookstudy conductor started the meeting with an overview of what that week's study would be about...then he asked me to read the first paragraph...so I suggested that we first have a prayer! Another time, I was conducting the study and I had to wake up the reader a few time during the meeting. Another time the Watchtower reader started reading the first paragraph...it was not only the wrong article, but it was also the wrong issue of the WT...he had to leave the platform to get the right magazine. An elder who has just moved to our congregation asked an old brother to conclude the meeting with prayer...he assumed the brother would do fine, being one of the anointed...the prayer went on forever and it included his request for forgiveness for forgeting his bible at home and not being able to follow the reading of the scriptures during the meeting....

  Wifes leaving their husbands

  this year alone, three wifes in my congo left their husband and da with jws (all of them have kids).

  similar cases are seen in nearby congos.

  its striking that far more women leave their man and the jws then man do.. i would like to know, whether this observation can be made in your area too.

  In my brother's congregation a sister left her unbelieving husband to move in with a fellow worker...at the same time, her newly married daughter was dumped by her husband...he was then disfellowshipped...In my congregation a mother of 4 ran away with her husband's best friend...he is also father of 4...the two couples got divorced and the unfaithful mates are now married together and reinstated...
