I haven't made it official yet...but my sibblings know. My elderly mom may not yet know but the last time she called she only spoke to my wife who is still active. I just found out that they are all planning to visit us in the next few months. They all live 300 miles away and they will be staying in our home for a few days. My wife's JW relatives have also said they may come and visit...So I don't pray before meals and I won't go the the meetings with them...I'm sure that will shock some of them since I was probably to most active JW of the bunch.

It's the little things...
by MrFreeze ini remember when friends would say something like "you wouldn't want to lose out on everlasting life over something so small, would you?
" this would usually be said to you when you were doing some little thing you weren't supposed to be doing as a jw... like watching an r-rated movie... having a beard.
i'm sure we've all heard it.. the thing that i've realized is that it works both ways.

I agree....the blanket is always pulled in the same direction. My wife put on our fridge a message found in a fortune cookie that said: Do not let anyone stop you from doing what you believe is right. She was trying to let me know that I shouldn't attempt to pull her away from the "truth". When I saw the message I thanked her for no longer trying to stop me from doing what I believe is right (leaving the JWs)...you should have seen her face! A few days later the message disapeared...

Tomorrow's Watchtower Study: Steve hits Selma in North America... not South America
by Alfred ini started a thread a few days ago that probably went unnoticed for the most part (under "scandals & cover-ups") regarding steve hitting selma in tomorrow's wt study... i just wanted to recap it here for those who may have missed it.... the spanish version changes the story completely.... if you've read that paragraph 12 it basically says that steve hit selma as she tried to prove a point.
selma then feels sorry for herself.. in the spanish version steve merely gets furious with her and she gets sad.. by the way, i just looked up the italian version... .
selma ricorda una lezione che imparo dalla sorella che le conduceva lo studio.

Wha...the way I am going to bring this up with my wife is that 5 years ago we had a brother live with us for a year because his (bipolar) wife kicked him out of their home because he was abusive...the elders sided with her and gave us a hard time for having him under our roof. When they went to court she had to admit he never touched her and that the "abuse" was verbal...still she could not even recall anything in particular! According to the WT "new light" she should have stayed with her husband even if he smacked her around...this couple was married 15 years...2 years short of the exemple in the article...

Wha...showing her the two different version may cause her to doubt that the story is true...did he hit her or was he only furious...which one is it? It can only be one or the other.

Jehovah, the God of Parking Lots
by 00DAD inthis idea was brought up on another thread today, but i thought this particular angle deserved it's own thread.
have you ever noticed that jws that have completely swallowed the kool-aid are really whacked in their thinking when it comes to interpreting life's events.
bb, "because i got the parking place and they didn't.

I told my sister that God provides a used car to a pioneer in need but doesn't intervene when a sexually abused child begs him to stop the pain...
God answered my prayer and provided me a job the day after the company I worked for 27 years shut down my division but he didn't answer my prayer when I asked him to spare the life of my best friend who died from cancer...I would rather be on unemployed than without my friend!
By the way, that new job that was such a blessing from God is now turned into a trap from Satan since I am working all that overtime and missing all my meetings!

Is this $h!t Written for Idiots?

it comes from god through.
"...they obeyed the warning that god had sent by means of angels".

The Bible Teach book states that God doen't interfere in favor of man because it would make it appear like Satan's world is succeeding...then how can JWs claim angels are guiding the preaching work...isn't this implying that God is interfering?

2011 Yearbook= BEARDS are still for non-Witnesses ONLY!!!! Beard Fear?
by Witness 007 in1960's the watchtower pictures showed jesus clean shaven and with short hair {watch 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower books now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
....because he is shown that way in representations that are older than the traditional effeminate looking pictures..."}.
yearbook 2011 p.57 "a bearded man named eric showed up at a congregation in the united states {oh god a bearded man!!!

I was often involved in dramas at the District Conventions and in the the early days of costumed dramas some brothers grew their own beard. Then all those who were in dramas were told to keep quiet about the subject of the dramas and that growing a beard would not be a good idea if you didn't want others to know you were a participent. Of course while you were growing a beard you would not be fit to go out in the ministry...At a quick build in my own congregation I was turned away because I hadn't shaved for a couple of days. I had no intention of growing a beard, I had been on site almost day and night and hardly went home to shower and shave...I guess my unshaven face nullified all the free labour I had put in and God could not see through the facial hair.

"We miss you."
by dontplaceliterature init's beginning to annoy me when people send me text messages and e-mails of this sort.
it's even more annoying when it comes from people who i primarily associated with while i was still active, but who i haven't heard a word from since i quit going to meetings a couple months ago.
most of these people live less than five minutes from me and would be welcome at my house anytime.

DPL, none of these people are your friends. If they were they would have inquired after a few missed meetings...I play hockey with "wordly" people and when I miss a game I get a bunch of e-mails asking me if every thing is OK the very next day. When JWs say they miss you, all they want to achieve is to make you feel guilty for missing the meetings. Then it is left to those who have the spiritual qualification to take care of your case, assuming that something must be terribly wrong with you and they don't want to get involved. It took nearly a year for elders to attempt a visit and except for one brother I used to be close to, I received no calls or e-mails. I am closing in on my second year of inactivity and I have been avoiding all contact with the JWs because I don't want to give them any reason to think that I may come back. At time it has been difficult since my wife is still active and we used to be very social. I also was well liked because I did a lot for the "brothers" both spiritually and financially. But I guess you are easily forgotten when you no longer go tho the KHall. This is not a surprise because my own familly hardly kept in touch after we moved 300 miles away. They are much too busy with their spiritual familly (congregation elder) and recruiting (pionnering). So my advice is just ignore the "We miss you" because that is just an automatic reflex...an attempt to have you come back within the fold...
