The premium paid for the WT insurance fund is another cash grab because very few congregations would dare make a claim to the society. I remember an instance when someone broke in the KH storage shed and stole the mowing/snow plow tractor and we simply made a resolution to buy a new one instead of making an insurance claim. It cost around $5,000 to the congregation. If a witness got injured how would he been seen by others if he sued for damages?

Congregation Contributions
by nolongerconfused indo you guys remember when the congregation's monthly contribution report was read out loud in the service meeting?
obviously, they don't do that anymore... does anyone here know why exactly they stopped reading the report publicly?.
seems fishy to me.

When they stopped reading the accounts report my first thought was that most JWs who contribute never look at the information board, and before long the contributions would go ddown without reminders to donate...so I'm not surprised that they reverted to reading the report again.

I was doing the accounts 4 years ago and I was always given the announcements on the service meeting where the accounts report was to be read. When the announcements were eliminate to gain time for the combined bible study a copy of the accounts report was posted on the congregation information board...that may have changed since then...

JWs AND THE OCCULT PT. 2!

The cover picture is not realistic because when you become a JW all your worldly friends got to go...even those from your childhood. You then replace them by conditional friends...so when you leave the cult you are without friends.

Why JWs don't celebrate Mother's day
by Laika inin the uk, this sunday is mother's day!
ask a jw why they don't celebrate holidays and they'll tell you it's because of some nefarious pagan connection.
but this is really just a cover.

Petty Gambling
by konceptual99 inaccording to the shepherd book.... .
the elders do well not to involve themselves in what individuals do with regard to petty gambling solely for entertainment.
they may need to give counsel if this becomes a cause of stumbling for others or affects the spirituality of the individual or the congregation.-w02 11/1 p. 31.. .

There was a MS in our circuit who tried out for Canadian Idol...he wasn't select but his tryout was on TV...he was deleted because JWs should aspire to be idols...

I can relate because I won 50k with a free ticket from McD when I was still in and a MS. I did some research in the publications to get "Jehovah's" view on the matter. The oldest articles stated that it was left to your conscience to accept or not since technically you hadn't wagered any money to acquire the ticket. The most recent article reversed "Jehovah's" view by saying the money was raised through a disaproved activity and accepting the prize money would be like accepting diamonds as a gift knowing they were stolen. I seriously considered not claiming the prize not to lose my service privileges. This got me thinking of another situation where it is OK to accept blood fractions acquired through blood donation...an activity disaproved by God... One year later I found TTATT and left the cult and I am very happy I didn't forfeit the money as it would have been another poor decision made under the wise guidance of the WT.
