If you believe you succeeded in life because of the "training" you received at the kingdom hall.
If you believe the food on your table or the roof over your head is a blessing from god.
... unlike the rest of humanity, you looked forward to mondays because it was a day off from a meeting..

i know what you may be thinking by the title but bear with me.
have you ever reflected on past service experiences and think wow if only i had listened to a householder?
two things come to my mind of personal experience.
Former2free, I had the exact two experiences and the householder knew more about the bible than I did. I told him I would do research but he wanted me to only use the bible to support my argument. He predicted that I wouldn't return...and he was right. Another return visit offered a CD from his church and I refused it while still expecting he would take my bible teach book...Today I realize how delusional I was...
i love it!!
the brother started by saying we know our donations don't go to the local brothers -- you don't see us wearing gold rings, fancy jewelry (watches?
) wonder if he notices who does?.
I know of some missionaries in Africa who donate their meager monthly allowance to the poor brothers who struggle to feed their families...while the WT has the best facilities and maintains their recent vehicles so they can continue doing their business...In my country the WT is registered as a "charitable organization" but I've yet to see money or aid flowing towards the needy. The only form of charity comes from the generosity of local brothers and the WT takes full credit.
how strict were the jehovah’s witnesses you knew about birthday cake?
i knew a girl who saw a few pieces of cake in the break room at her work, and ate a peice, then found out later that it was left over birthday cake.
she felt so guilty and was scared about a bad impression she left on her work mates.
The company I worked for merged and the staff of the other company celebrated workers birthdays. So on my birthday I saw a birthday cake making it's way to the cafeteria...in near panic I told the HR person that I didn't clebrate birthdays ...blah...blah...blah. The HR person said that the cake was to celebrate someone on their side of the business. How relieved I was...but how stupid the HR person must have thought I was!
on weekend mornings i like to take my dog for a long walk at a nearby lake.
recently there's been some cultists and a propaganda cart posted up along my walking path.
until today i've ignored them.
I see them set up in a deserted park on the opposite side of a parking lot to the beach. They don't come out on the weekend when there's actually people using the park...
my little bethel bird has whispered in my ear some encouraging news.
it has been reported to the canadian branch that some witnesses doing cart work had police stop them from carting in public parks.
the direction sent to the southern ontario congregations is to cease carting until further notice.. this is no joke.. have a jw-free day..
last sunday, our family went to the kingdom hall and i realized that this was the week that the circuit overseer was in town.
when we sat down, i noticed he came over and talked to her then he walked away i guess to talk to others.
a few minutes later, he returned to tell her that he could not talk to her because he was informed that she was disfelloshipped.
CO is "royalty" and won't lower himself to speak with unworthy DF peasant...
i have not had a jw at my door [don't get me wrong this is great] for a few years.
is cart preaching the why its all done today?
Vanderhoven7...He, and his lovely wife who passed away a few years ago, came to my old congregation in Montreal to learn French and my family became friends with them. Then they moved to La Pocatière where the need was great. For a time he was in my brother's congregation when he moved back and that's how I get news about him.

Vanderhoven7...Do you live in the Dollard / Pierresfond area? If so I know elder Anton. Mid to late sixties, tall and slim with a happy demeanor.
i remember when that came out, my mother didn't catch it in the original article in the wt.
it was in one of the review "do you remember" thingies that she caught it.
she asked me if it means what she thought it meant.
The overlapping generation was the tipping point for me too. The WT review at our summer district assembly was the study article "explaining" the new meaning of generation, followed by the talk where the brother struggled to explain the overlap. That was the last meeting I attended after 52 years of faithful service.
