  dave got home early on wednesday so we hustled off to the afternoon showing.

  (cheaper seats).

  it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.

  Hell week is almost over...

  hell week aka vacation bible school at the church behind us is almost over.

  there are approximately five more minutes of screaming left, followed by a "free carnival" at 5pm, then nothing until sunday when we'll be gone anyway.

  Was that church there when you bought the house, or did they move in afterwards.

  If they were there before you moved in then you have no one to blame, but yourself. It's called due dilligence, and self-responsibility.

  If they moved in after you did, then I am sure there are reporters just salavating at the chance to nail a church. If they are not responding in a Christian manner, and you are making it worse by being combative then you are screwed. All they will have to do is claim that you are some type of atheistic, child-sacrificing demon worshippers, and you will have the entire Christian community breathing down your backs.

  If neither option works, then you can just up and move.

  The church that I attend bought the buildings they own fromthe YMCA. There was no issue in the 7 years that I lived in that community with the Y having daycare at that location. But after the church bought it and decided to put in a daycare center, then all hell broke loose.

  The Hooks: Which One Did You Bite?

  i have a theory that recruited jws (not those born into it) all have a specific reason why they converted.

  i also believe that it is still these "hooks" that keep them going - in the face of so many facts that prove jws are ridiculously wrong.

  for those who were raised a jw: was there a hook besides the negative "you will lose your life, family and friends?".

  Raised in the troof. Ergo I was never a in that emotionally needy state.

  I think that is why so many J-Dub kids don't stay in. They have no emotional investment like their parents did or do.

  Remember Enron? They were in your neck of the woods not too long ago.

  Two years ago they told California to drop trou, bend over forwards, and take it without any lube. So we've already been there and done that.

  And just to be fair. Your tax money probably paid for that stadium. Reliant paid money, that you paid it, to have their name placed on that stadium.

  I can't say i know exactly what Whoopi said. I didn't hear it exactly, in fact no has heard it because for some reason there is no tape that has surfaced (if there is one now, I haven't heard it either).

  I think we are kind of agreeing with each other though. I agree that Slim Fast and Disney have the right to hire or fire someone based on what they say. I'm glad that it isn't just conservatives that only get nailed anymore.

  It's just funny, that if it happens to a liberal, then it's a censorship issue. The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Ya-da, ya-da, ya-da.

  I also wonder, since liberals like Whoopi like to make soooooo much fun of Bush being stupid, then why do they say stuff like this? It plays right into the hands of the conservatives that say these Hollywood types are out of step with America.

  Who is the stupid one? The one firing the trigger, or the one walking in front of that gun knowing the trigger is going to be pulled?

  My issue with ESPN, was that they actually HAD a ratings INCREASE during Limbaugh's tenure (over the previous season), and a noted DROP after. Hmmmmmm. Seems like a smart business decision to me.

  As far as Whoopi.......whoopie-freekin'-do. Don't care one way or another. I don't care for her comedy, and I think she's a lousy actress. And I never purchased Slim Fast, ever. I lost my weight via Atkins.

  Yes, but there is some truth in there. It isn't all lies.

  By your own admission you state that there is at least the possibility of falsehood there.

  I don't think that it is all lies, but I have seen enough to lose faith in what he says.

  Like with the WT, how many times does their prophecy of Armegeddon not have to be fulfilled in order to realize that they are either lying or deluded?

  I don't think you or anyone else that believes it is stupid. Michael Moore thinks that of America. He is so proud of that statement that he makes it in England, and not here. Here in the land that gave him the opportunity to write and direct movies.

  I look at Moore's films the way I look at JFK, and The Reagans. Nice fiction that have little to do with fact.

  Just a quick question:

  Are those of you that are going to boycott Slim Fast, and/or are venting here on the firing of Whoopi by Slim Fast over her tastless attempts at humor also going to petition ESPN and Disney for the reinstatement of Rush Limbaugh back on ESPN's pre-game Sunday show?

  Don't laugh. You must be consistent.

  Personally, I thought that Limbaugh was out of line in his comments, but he had the right to say them. I did not find then racist, nor offensive. I do not find Whoopi's comments out of line, but I thought they were base and tasteless. I don't think she needed to be fired over them.
