What is up with Kirk Cameron?

i think that's his name - you know the kid from that show growing pains?

i knew he was in the left behind movie and i think maybe another apocalyptic one, but then i saw him on some evangelical show talking about how to 'witness' to people, spouting a simplistic 'technique' of showing how people are sinners against the 10 commandments and then telling them you can be saved.. one thing that stands out is i could swear his acting in gp was more convincing than this spaced out kinda look he had in this show.

Fanaticism of any kind is distasteful to me. That is why I would criticize the actions of people like Cameron, who tell others they are going to burn in hell. It's kinda sick, in my opinion.

Well, it's not like Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort are on broadcast TV or secular cable TV promoting the idea for their book. Actually, they are on a religious broadcasting station that airs directly to "Christians." It seems that one has to go out of their way to see what he does any way. If what they do is so "sick" then by all means don't watch it.

I had a similar experience. During one summer, to augment my income I decided to hawk merchandise at Dodger Stadium.

In order to be employed I had to join a union. They took about 10% of my pay for union dues. We (merchandise venderors) got nothing back. In fact, the ushers, and food stand people got meals, we got squat.

My next experience with the union was more plesant. It was last summer, and I was a shift supervisor for the company that makes Speedo swimwear. The Garment Workers union has had their sights on this company for years. The working conditions were deplorable. This company hired only temp workers, in order to avoid paying higher wages, and medical. It also kept the people there in check. If anyone complained the supervisors would call personel, and tell them that they were not need any more, and they were replaced. Simple as that.

During a two week period, the union ~~thugs~~ organizers, started showing up with their ~~propaganda~~ leaflets. They were swaying some workers. Until one day, before my shift started, the general manager adressed the workers and pretty much thrashed the union. Typical anti-union rhetoric. Now he was speaking to a bunch of meek Mexicans that would rock the boat if it meant avoiding an exposed reef and certain doom. So when the boss man asked for questions, they didn't raise any. However, I being educated in the ways of the world, asked "Why were they afraid of letting the union come in and address the workers?" "What's wrong with giving the workers some kind of job security, and protection?"

Now all these issues were legitimate. He ignored me, but the next day before I left for work, my own agency called me and told me that I was no longer needed. Where was the first time that I actually wanted a union, and I got nailed. However, unlike some I didn't file suit for wrongful termination (which I was). I didn't run to the ACLU and claim my rights were violated (which they were). I just moved on to something better.

Couldn't whatch the Dukes of Hazzard, because of Daisey Duke's Daisy Dukes. I was only in 6th grade and girls were still cooty filled, vermin. All I wanted to see was the General Lee.

That was the only TV program that was forbidden in our house. Of course, mom (God rest her soul) never missed the soaps. I do give her credit. When the WTS came down hard on the soaps she gave them up with no problems.

Ok, so while they in prison, prisoners get: 3 hots and a cot, the ability to sell drugs, supplies and of items on a black market system. Work-out in the yard's weight lifting area. Get an education supplied by our tax dollars. Write books and make money. Where is the poor treatment. Oh and before you ask me if I spent time in one or more of the various penal systems in the U.S. The answer is "No." However, both my children's godparents have, and two of my most trusted friends have (one of whom was a member of "La Eme" aka The Mexican Mafia).

Now do some learn a trade, yes. Have some actually be "rehabilitated" during their time in the "pokey?" Yes. Many question whether or not prison should be a place of "punishment" rather than "rehabilitation". Personally I think that is a false dilema (sp?). Prison should be both. There should be hard labor involved, perhaps for the first half of the sentence (helping to rebuild our country's (USA) failing infrastructure, or working on someother public endeavor. The second half, should then be spent in rehab'ing the prisoner. Getting hime skills, and education to get a job (if schooling is needed a G.E.D.) or a trade. Him getting a college education at tax payer expense is a bit much in my mind. I had to pay, and pay, and pay for my education. They should pay too. And don't give me any bull ca-ca about your not a minority. In case you haven't looked i have a natural tan, and it doesn't get lighter during the winter. I did a lot on my own. I value my education because I worked my @$$ off for it. I value the freedom that it has given me. I hold to the old axiom, "You value most, that which has cost you most."

ok, i'm not one for conspiracy theories but lately i've uncovered some interesting facts that i think warrant some attention.. first of all, russell was a freemason.

all the early watchtower and books he authored have freemason symbology and art throughout them.

not a big deal i thought, until i read more about freemasons and the so-called "illuminati", a group of 13 families that supposedly control the world.. supposedly these 13 families, such as the duponts, mcdonalds, kennedys, .

For all the "tough approach" and very tough prison regime, you do have one of the largest prison populations.
So, tell me ... does it work? Do people reoffend? Does it put people off crime? Are you just punishing further people who have had bad breaks already? Does it help rehabilitiate people to integrate with society again?
