  and i thought i was told that moslems were innocent victims of oppression.

  what happened to the innocence and superior morality of moslems?

  interestingly, after a thorough search on http://english.aljazeera.net i could only find one reference to this, and al jazeera put a spin on the story to make it seem like "the amnesty report was aimed at defaming the government, distorting arab culture and driving a wedge between sudan's ethnic groups.

  These despicable acts are happening in the southern region of Sudan. This region is inhabited by Christians. The Christian community has been aware of these atrocities since around 1993.

  Thought it was odd that the newspapers omit this fact.

  we have so many vocal posters here, on both sides of the fence....any of you actually involved in your candidate's campaigns?.

  how many of you are working to get your presidential candidate in to office?

  how much time are you devoting and how?

  Elder visits after disassociating?

  i heard that after a jw has been disfellowshipped, elders will still periodically visit the person, once a year?, to see if his situation has changed and might be interested in studying again.

  my question is, what if a jw disassociated himself?

  some elders i have been avoiding for 10+ years discovered where i live and tried to visit me.

  I made it quite clear, in no uncertain terms, that I didn't want them visiting me. When MY ex was still in their evil clutches, one elder that I respected, called and asked me if they (him and the jerk P.O.) could visit my ex. I said that if they needed to talk to her they could make other meeting arrangements. That being around JWs made me uncomfortable. I also told them that if they showed up despite my wishes, I would call the police and file a trespassing complaint against them. Needless to say the did not show up. I had a great time with my kids, as the ex met with them at one or the other's home.

  I am not currently volunteering any time to a political candidate. I have no additional time for any politiacl work this year.

  Though last summer I did gather signatures (volunteer) to oust Gray "Lowbeam" Davis from office.

  hell week aka vacation bible school at the church behind us is almost over.

  there are approximately five more minutes of screaming left, followed by a "free carnival" at 5pm, then nothing until sunday when we'll be gone anyway.

  Have you sat down and spoken with the Pastor? If that gets, or has gotten nowhere then, I would find out if they are part of a denomination or affiliation. Then write to the HQ and inform them of the problem. Perhaps that would solve the problem. The big thing to remember is this, do not threaten them with legal action. Once the threat of legal action is made they will turn it into a 1st amendment violation issue. Just place it in writing, send it to the pastor, and the denominations HQ.

  Personally, I don't think this group is very mature. I would love to know who this group is. I have a suspicion though.

  2000 US Election - was it bogus?

  i have been thinking about this as a topic, and after reading the following comment by bikerchic on another thread, i think it is relevant, and would like to hear the american's thoughts on this.he never should have been president and it's a shame that we as us citizens let him get away with cheating his way into office.

  should the supreme court have decided the presidency?

  should there have been a recount?

  The one thing that the framers of The U.S. Constitution were afraid of more than anything was tyranny. They had seen onough of it under German George (George the 3rd), and wanted more than anything to avoid it in the U.S. government. Balance is the one theme that strikes me in reading the U.S. Constitution. Balance between the 3 branches of the government. The purpose of the electoral college was and is to balance the urban and rural areas of the nation.

  We finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11

  dave got home early on wednesday so we hustled off to the afternoon showing.

  (cheaper seats).

  it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.
