  "The Truth"

  we all know that jws consider the wt religion to be "the truth" and refer to it as such.. granted, that phrase is used repeatedly in the literature and from the platform.. but it's obvious that much of what the organization used to require jws to teach house-to-house as important truths--even within our own lifetimes--has been abandoned.

  it's been replaced by "new light" and "refined understanding.

  what's meant by "the 1914 generation" is a prime example.. in fact, i think it would be hard to find another religion that has changed so many of its teachings, especially in such a short period of time.. so why do jws still believe their religion to be "the truth"?.

  Apostate Hunter?

  has anyone heard of this jw guy?.

  apparently he writes a weekly (weakly?

  ) blog as well as having written this book where he claims he disses the claims of "apostates".. to know what apostates are saying he has to be engaging with them or tuning into websites like this one, contravening the gb's direction not to do so.

  I think the book that really helped me was 'combatting cult mind control' Steven Hassan. It explained how cults use words to mentally enslave people.

  It's verbal trickery. Weasel words. The term is used to convince the user that the Watchtower(tm) is correct.

  I think it used to be called NLP. Neuro-linguistic programming is a way of changing someone's thoughts and behaviours. A propaganda technique.

  How can you be 'in' the 'truth'?

  that's why I never say 'when I was in the truth.' I will say 'when I was in the cult.'

  I'd answer by saying that we need to prove he even existed before going to question his winkie.

  Many start off with the premise that he existed.

  He didn't write any books of the Bible (that was bunged together by some geezers who did a bit of an 'eenie meenie miny mo' for this).

  There is absolutely no evidence of his existing outside of the Bible.

  I know this character was supposed to be walking mysteriously and shizz, but come on.

  The nearest are vagaries that can be crowbarred into the fiction.

  Yep! First, prove this geezer existed outside of the Bible. I'll give a hint. No one can. It's all made up!

  “Hanging the earth upon nothing”

  for those of you not up to speed on the latest jw trends, one of the key scriptures the jws are using in field serve-us lately is job 26:7, wherein the writer describes the earth as “hanging upon nothing”.. this text is used to indicate the bible’s “reliability”.

  the reasoning goes something like this:.

  “see, centuries ago, people thought the world was flat, or was resting on elephants or turtles, or some such nonsense.

  Judgment Day

  a specific “day,” or period, when particular groups, nations, or mankind in general are called to account by god.

  “i solemnly charge you before god and christ jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead,”- 2 tim 4:1. seems like sins are not paid by dying or the ransom if there is a judgment in-spite of it.

  Pure fiction. It's not coming. Nothing will happen. How old are the writings that are used for this?

  People are wasting their time on being Bible (or some other 'holy' writing. Pick your poison), 'intellectuals' with constant study over something wishful through rosy coloured glasses.

  Judgement day would have come before now. It seems each generation (overlapping or not), thinks 'it' is coming in their life-time. Oh, my. Oh, my. How sad.

  There's life out there. Stop wasting time on made up stuff.

  Believe what you want, though. In my opinion, it's a massive waste of time.
