  the law of diminishing returns states: the law of diminishing returns is an economic principle stating that as investment in a particular area increases, the rate of profit from that investment, after a certain point, cannot continue to increase if other variables remain at a constant.

  as investment continues past that point, the return diminishes progressively.. from 1900 through the 1980s, the more witnesses that got baptized and pioneered, the more bible studies that could be had and the more additional witnesses that could join and then congregations would get bigger and they would divide and form in other areas.

  but in the 1990s the law of diminishing returns kicked in, particularly in the bigger cities.

  Why would it need strengthening unless it's not to be trusted in the first place?

  by remembering that they pray for holy spirit when considering matters that affect the congregation.

  Obviously a useless gesture considering all the sexual predators that get away with their crimes.

  They also carefully consider relevant Bible principles and consult guidelines provided by Jehovah’s organization.

  The Bible has nothing to do with it. They mean the company regulations from the Watchtower(tm). there's the clue in the word 'organisation'! (I see the Americans spell it wrong heh heh ).

  Their heartfelt desire is to please Jehovah and to provide the best care possible for his people.

  appeal to authority by using 'Jehovah(tm)'. All the sexual predators are not kept away. How is that 'best care'?

  These faithful men know that they are accountable to God for the way they handle their responsibilities.

A number of factors—including past religious beliefs or even mental or emotional imbalance—might cause some to assume mistakenly that they have the heavenly calling. We thus have no way of knowing the exact number of anointed ones on earth; nor do we need to know.   All the favourite Elders(tm) in the clique will be on display. Sanctimonious and fake reverence will permeate the air. The favourites will be pompously 'praying(tm)' over the 'emblems(tm)' in an attention seeking manner.

  I always found the 'memorial(tm)' very austere and beyond a tedious waste of time.

  A lot of the ones that don't go to meetings(tm) will suddenly appear.

  They'll probably claim this 'might' be the last 'memorial(TM)' before 'armageddon(TM).

  Think of all the hours wasted attending that useless ceremony. That's hours we'll never get back.

  "Minds must be cleansed" (Watchtower, June 1, 1953, p. 350 par. 24). 24 In these closing days of wickedness Jehovah’s people must demonstrate holiness. They must not foul their minds with the filthy mental food on the propaganda tables of this old world, but must feed on the feast of fat things Jehovah provides. (Isa. 25:6; 28:8.) Minds must be cleansed and made over, mental circuits formed by old-world thinking and acting faded out and new ones put in according to new-world specifications. By privately studying regularly, by attending all meetings regularly, and by engaging in all features of the preaching work regularly mental circuits are deepened and such good activities become habitual, not at all the struggle they are when the mental circuits are weak and faint because used only occasionally.
