  I wasn't allowed to have David Bowie LPs because of his ahem, 'appearance' and the word in the Jobots was that he was a homo.

  I was even told not to have Donovan LPs.

  Of course I had both, just hidden in the sleeves of other artists. I knew my parents wouldn't recognise Bowie or Donavan when played.

  As far as Led Zeppelin are concerned, I managed to ensconce a poster on my wall in a position that wasn't really looked at.

  Young "Elders"

  ever since the annual meeting last october and the letter to bodies of elders stating that "exceptional young men perhaps in their early 20's could qualify for appointment as elders.." it even states this in the updated elders manual!

  have any of you pimo's, pimq's, or those on here with family/friends still in hear of any young men being appointed as elders yet?

  i am talking 21, 22, 23, 24 etc.

  The Watchtower Corporation(tm) claims that Jesus and Michael the Archangel are one an the same.

  What about: Hebrews 1:5? I quote from their own corrupt cult propaganda version.........

  For example, to which one of the angels did God ever say: “You are my son; today I have become your father”? And again: “I will become his father, and he will become my son”?

  Even their own corporation version contradicts the 'Michael' JW garbage.

  i found out that a uk hospital (nnuh) uses kingdom melodies as hold music, apparently for some years!

  i called and heard it myself.

  i wrote an email to the complaints team and await a response.

  "for starters, imagine a distinctly insular form of protestant fundamentalism minus the trinity (god and jesus are held to be separate beings, and the holy spirit is god's active power rather than a person).

  note: since the witnesses want to think of their faith as something absolutely unique, they themselves will not agree that they are either protestant or fundamentalist.. * very important to call god by his proper name of jehovah, and as noted, you must not get him mixed up with jesus.

  smiddy - I remember the 'house to house' bit in Acts 20:20 now. It is one the JWs believe is a command. It doesn't look like a command to me. It seems to be a bit of a one off in terms of 'methods' before Paul was bunged under house arrest.

  They never mention Luke 10:7 though.

  Vandy would probably have a better handle on it than me, I've given up studying after the trauma with the Corporation(tm) destroyed my trust.

  Well, for a start, I don't recall reading about that in the Bible, not even in Acts of the Apostles!
  

  As for what JW's believe, I would suggest they don't actually hold beliefs as such. They just parrot the propaganda that the Governing Body(tm) (Pee be upon then spout).

  got a link for a zoom meeting and thought id share my experience about the mid-week meeting.. guessing about 100 - 120 in cong.. 50 on zoom, only 8 with cameras on - all elderly.

  watching from a detached point of view it's so obvious at how it is nothing but a glorified sales meeting, all designed to promote the org.

  inspirational videos about how everyone can/ should do more to help with projects, in particular how to look after the kingdom hall, complete with bar charts showing levels of achievement to aspire to.. interestingly, tonights book study is about alcohol..
