  Does the Governing Body already know that Jehovah (the name) came from Babylon the Great?

  i'll start by stating the obvious... according to the watchtower, the catholic church is a huge part of babylon the great which is led by satan and his demons.

  raymundus martini, a catholic monk (who "represents" babylon the great to some extent), woke up one day in the 13th century and decided to alter yhwh so it can be easily pronounced.

  hence the spanish-ish version of yhwh was created... jehova... (sounds something like this in spanish: heh-o-va).

  Leamington Spa, so good they named it twice. Sorry, couldn't resist. I imagine the BOE(tm) will only read this bit then not bother with the rest because in their watchtower(tm) eyes, it's all apostate driven lies(tm).

  It would be nice if at least one of them read it all and some of it sank in.

  My old congregation is being shuttered

  i just found out from my jehovah's witness cousin that my old congregation is being shuttered due to lack of elders, less than 20 members attending, and that the congregation cannot meet their monthly expenses.. here is a congregation that was started in 1975 with less than 15 members.

  it grew to 185 members in the 1990's.

  the congregation grew so large that the elders decided to split the congregation in two.

  So, the 'dedication(tm)' talk they did when the structure was built didn't work?

  So much for the 'growth(tm)' they boast about.

  The Kingdumb Hells in my neck of the woods, it's laughable.

  1 is now an Islamic centre.

  1 Became a Mosque but I don't know what it is now.

  1 Became an African Pentecostal Church.

  Whether you believe Scripture or not, It does say 'no one knows the day or hour', or words to that effect.

  The Governing Body(tm)(Pee be upon them), have relentlessly told the r&f(tm) that we are in the 'final part of the final part of the last days(tm)' and other such predictive platitudes. They ramp up the fear and guilt so that they can get money, power and protect their like minded Rolf Harris/ Gary Glitter class.

  More evidence that it's just a big business posing as a religion.

  How many new converts do you remember as a JW?

  inspired by the "whats the reason you think jw's are in decline" thread.

  my belief is that almost all the growth, at least in the western world is due to jw's having kids.

  i was a 4th generation jw from birth till about age 20, so the timeframe i can comment on would be my teen years.

  More have left the filthy disgusting cult than have been enticed in by 'witnessing(tm)' in my experience. This is based on the folk in congos I've been in or associated with over the years.

  I'm not really a fan of the like/dislike buttons because of the anonymity involved. You never know if someone that disliked a post has commented after with a reason.

  I'm sure that sometimes there are those that dislike a post because............reasons......not related to the post itself.

  I predicted the Corporation's(tm) response.

  It was a non response full of holes. They're just trying their best to use the 'no true Scotsman' fallacy.

  The trouble is, I felt the doco was a bit flimsy in as much as it's stuff that's been heard before. I'd like to have seen something really hard hitting like extracts from the ARC.

  The insights in to the Scatter the Flock book were good. Perhaps more of that rather than some wee lassie standing around in Norwich.

  Confirmed: CO Discourages Zoom

  i can confirm that the co during one of his service talks stated that zoom is a provision for elderly, infirmed, as well as people who might need it on occasion due to health reasons, otherwise you are expected to be in person at meetings and in the ministry.

  this had to come down from the top.

  maybe they do not want to put it in a gb update or broadcast since that would be too public i suppose.
