Three years ago TODAY !

i just realised that three years ago, on 25th march 2008, i walked out of the kingdom hall and thought, "i can never go back".
it was a strange and worrying feeling that night, i knew (or thought) i was heading for being df'd, i had been in for 58 years, all my extended family were in, all my life-long friends were in, all my social circle were in, and as i walked away , i knew jw life was at an end, and i would have to start a new life from scratch... it is the most wonderful decision i have ever made in my life, second only to when i impulsively asked my girlfriend of a few months to marry me, she did, the fool, and we are still together after 40 years.. i have enjoyed immensely the feeling of relief, freedom and excitement that has been with me since i left, my journey since leaving has been a fascinating one of exploring ideas and visiting different religion's services, learning about evolution, philosophy, critical thinking, etc.etc.. three years well spent, and the rest of my life in freedom !!

Three brothers killed in plane crash in Honduras

from a news report published february 15, 2011:richland missionary dies in honduras plane crashflynn tomchuk was drawn to the central american country of honduras several times as a missionary for the jehovahs witness congregation in richland, most recently for a year-and-a-half on the island of roatan as a full-time minister.his father, robert tomchuk, said his son was impressed by the love the local people had for the bible and gods word.. it was in pursuit of his own passion for spreading that word that flynn tomchuk died monday at age 47.. tomchuk was one of 14 people killed when a small honduran commercial airliner crashed near the nations capital.. others among the dead were former and current senior government officials prompting the government to declare three days of national mourning and a union leader, the associated press reported.. the central american airlines plane was flying to the toncontin international airport in tegucigalpa when it crashed monday morning in las mesitas, a town about three miles south of the airport.. the cause of the crash is being investigated, but there was fog in the area at the time.
toncontin airport is considered dangerous because of its short runway and surrounding hills.. the let l-410 turbolet was carrying two pilots and 12 passengers, including rodolfo rovelo, assistant secretary for public works, jose israel salinas, a leader of the united workers federation of honduras and former economy secretary carlos chain, said airline manager felix pacheco.. im destroyed, in shock, because of what happened, pacheco told the ap.. at least 10 planes have crashed in and around the toncontin airport since october 1989, when a honduran commercial jet went down, killing 131 people.. toncontins short runway, old navigation equipment and neighboring hills make it one of the worlds more dangerous international airports.

Love of the Governing Body
by IMHO inat a recent sad the visiting bethel brother after passing on the love of the branch committee (which is bad enough, they used to say the 'bethel family' didn't they), he then made it worse (for me) by adding that he has also been told to pass on the love of the governing body.. that doesn't sit quite right with me but i can't really explain why.
any thoughts?.

Worldly people don't suck
by streets76 inmy wife (never a jw) is ill and undergoing a series of treatments that will last for many months.
it's a physical, emotional, and financial drain on both of us.. my wife has run her own business for many years and has an extensive client list that includes some very well-to-do folks.
one of those clients called her one day and offered to pay all of her medical expenses.

My wife and I took care of a dear friend for 15 years in our house. Our freind was a JW. The last 2 years being on a vent it was 24/7. When our friend died only 4 people came over to see us from the hall. But the so called worldly people we knew brought us food, cards, flowers and encouragement. The reason the JW didn't come over was because that coming weekend was a assembly. They told us they were to busy to come over. But e-mail my wife and told her hope to see you at the assembly. We were in shock that week. It took all I could do to keep from telling them all off. During the funeral at the hall only 4 people came up to us to tell us how sorry they were for our lose. But the so called worldly people who were there came up and comfort us. So yes so called worldly people do not suck. But Cult JW for the most part do. They have no idea what love is. Totally ADD

craziest reason elders wanted to have a commitee meeting with you
by glentrevette ini had a sister who was a tenant in my house and her car was leaking oil all over my newly paved driveway before she moved in i had a condition on the lease that said if her car leaked oil she couldnt park there and i told here after she moved in that she was being deceptive to me when she said her car didnt leak oil she was good friends with a lot of powerful elders in the hall and would you believe they asked to meet with me 3 elders in the back room of the library because they said i had called this sister a liar i got out of it only after i produced a copy of the lease and pictures of the oil mess if i hadnt of had pictures maybe i would of been dfd.

About a month after Mrs. ADD and I were married we went out to eat. We both had a beer with our meal. One beer each. Being newly married and much in love we was laughing and enjoying each others company. What we didn't know a old sister and her unbelieving husband was setting serveral booths down from us. The unbelieving husband called the PO in our hall and said we were drunk and acting disorderly because we was laughing. The next meeting my wife and I went to the PO asked us to meet with him and two other elders. They had formed a committee on us. Two old men and a pervert. Told us we should not be drinking in public and laughing. We might just stumble someone.

It will be 37 years tomorrow that my wife Reopened Mind and me got married. We are as young and healthy as ever. We survivied the Big A. We have seen thousands of people killed yet at the same time rejoice over the fact we made it alive into the new world. What a bunch of do-do. Sad to say it was only 1 year before 1975 and we both thought we would be in the New World. Didn't happen. Soon after we were told we had to high of expectations on the matter from the WT. Sadden by our delusional thinking we soon had our first child. We actual had a sister come up to my wife and say to her "Woe to the pregnant women in the last days". Well we had Woe's but no last days. After his brith we were told he will never grow up in this system of things. He is now 34 with children of his own. Then 5 years later we had our 2nd child. Again we were told he will never grow up in this system of things. He will soon be 29 and as children of his own. After his brith we had our first visit with 2 elders they told us we had demons because on wife had her tubes tied. Shortly after that the Awake came out that this generation would not past away before Big A. They are gone. Surely the Big A would be here by 2000? Not. All well though thick and thin my wife and I have fallen in and out of love with each other countless times through the years. Here we are still together. About 80% of my childhood friends have divorce and remarried serveral times. What is are secret? The easy answer to that question is our love for one another but the truth be said it is because of our stubbornness to keep this relationship going. Believe me I understand those who had hellish marriage and the only way to have peace is to get out of it. At this point we are both truly in love with one another. I believe that my wife is my savior in helping me with my emtional problems due to this cult. She is my anchor and I will love her for the rest of my life. In the last several years we have finally made a break from this cult and we are happier that ever now. So here's to you Reopened mind. I love you and I am looking forward to the rest of our life's together. Happy 37th Anniversary and many more to come. Totally ADD
PS Oh I forgot to say we were never going to grow old and die. We are getting into that old part now. LOL

i have often been accused of "not being able to let go.
" i don't agree that i post here because i'm not willing to let go, i think i post here because i think this place helps other people and i want to be part of it.

A werid experiance i had aged 13 with an Elder?
by highdose ini had a sudden memory of somthing that i had totaly forgotten about the other day.
when i was 13 i can remember a elder in my cong cornering me in the hall and asking me in specfic detail where i got undressed?
not content with being fobbed off with "in my home" he wanted to know what room, did i ever use the bathroom?

When I was 12 back in the 60's. We always had the D.O. stay are our house during a C. A. MY parents would give them their room and my bedroom was next to my parents bedroom. The last night they stayed which was a Sunday I go to bed early because of school the next day. At around 10 PM the D.O. walks into my room turns on my lights which wakes me up and just stares at me for about 2 mins. Then he says good night and leaves. To this day I always thought that was weird. Their are alot of sick people in this cult. Totally ADD
