No Nathan Nates. I live in NW PA. And according to our insurance agent flood insurance is almost worthless. Now that could be bacause in PA the laws don't allow to cover much. I don't know. I was just merely saying was our insurance agent said to us. We live in a valley with a creek behind our house. Way the policy are written here it is so vague they are a joke. If in Canada they hae good flood insurance that will cover them. More power to them. It just is not happening here that's all. Totally ADD

Flood insurance and cover for overland flooding
by Simon inwith the huge floods in alberta the news now is starting to cover the issue of property damange and insurance.. we've never really thought a lot about insurance cover for flooding because it became a big issue in the uk about 5-10 years ago with limited land availability leading to building on flood plains and the eventual inevitable consequences and so when we bought over here we didn't buy anywhere that was a possible flood risk.
our choice seems to have worked out as we've been completely untouched by the recent issues but tragically, others have been less fortunate and apparently few people are covered for 'overland flooding' which is where water enters your house through doors and windows.. it's hard to really know what is fair.
i understand the reason why insurers don't cover it and the arguments on both sides.. one one hand, we included the flood risk when puchasing a home.

Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story
by wizzstick ini'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).
it's a football (soccer) stadium.
there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

I know in another thread they ask if JW have visited you house. I say only once and we was not home so they left a invitaion to the DC in our door. Will here in the wild's of PA we are 300 miles away from that DC. My wife and both looked at each other and said They invite complete strangers to the DC which is 300 miles a reglion they know nothing about and expect someone to show up. When I was a kid in the 60's I was becoming a pretty good chess player. The one day a CO found out I played chess and that was it. He told my parents that chess teaches us about war and war is bad. Why would you want your child to learn about war. So I was forbidden to play chess anymore. Looking back it was OK for me to watch the evening news. As we all know for those alive then all that was on the news was the horrors of the Vet. War. So the moral of the story is chess teaches war. Nightly News does not. Totally ADD

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!

first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

The demon inspired expression was coming from this ass hole. I am guessing but he never had children did he? He has no idea what he is talking about. The damage to a child who is sexual abused last a life time. And to say a child abuser can change. My understanding is they can't. It's a sickness that came about by them being sexual abused as a child. This just shows the WT is not serious in taking care of this problem but to try their darnness to cover it up. The CO and his wife have no home
by not bitter ini know some have a flat or apartment that they can go to on the odd week off but i believe that the majority have no base to call home.. my parents have the co and wife stayng this week again and i asked my mum about it.
she says that if they do get the any time off they go to her mothers to stay but thats only every few months.
i just can't imagine having to live out of a suitcase in someone elses home constantly.. how to they not crack up.

Will if it is like the retired CO in the last congregation I was in I know they kick him and his wife out of the Moblie Home they were living in on the KH property. Even though the WT promise them they could stay there until they died. That did not happen. I guess they are living to long as far as the WT is concerned. I was shock to hear that. For some reason the WT wanted that Mobllie Home off the KH property. I guess they need more parking lot space. That is the short version of this story. All I know is the WT broke their promise to them. Totally ADD

Almost like a scene from "Patch Adams" We all did laugh when the grumpy old elder said that but it worked that person did not become a elder. Hind sight that was a good thing. WT Society holds EXTREME Responsibility for 1975 and False Expectations
by flipper inhowever- many jw's who have come into the jw organization from like 1985 forward virtually may have no knowledge of the wt society's 1975 debacle and false predictions of the end times or armageddon predictions.
just like in in the book 1984 by george orwell the wt society has a way of not only erasing it's history so no newer witnesses will be aware of their false predictions, but also they are re-writing their history as if those false predictions never happened.. so for those of you here who may have never read or heard of how whipped up into an emotional frenzy witnesses were in the years just before 1975 by the wt society claiming the end was any day now- this threads for you.

According to my youngest son inlaws. 1975 was not a big deal that we made it out to be. All I can say is they must have been living in a bubble. When 1975 came and went my wife and I went to my father and asked him why was the WT wrong. He just about tore our heads off. How dare we quesiton the WT. Being young we back down and never said a thing again until about 5 years ago. So many younger ones and new converts just don't know the whole story about 1975. They treat it the same way many of us treated how Russell was wrong about 1914. Many of us don't know how disappointed those Russell followers were. Thanks Flipper. Totally ADD

You hit a couple of points I totally agree with. The WT does foster the creation of socialpaths. Empathy or lack of it is one of the big traits the cult shows. This is what my wife and I experience while in the cult. We took care of a dear friend who had MS. He lived in our house for 15 years until he died. At his funeral only one person came up to us and told us how sorry he felt for our lost. The rest of them didn't even come up to us after the service and said anything to us except a few in the back of the hall told us "Will I guess you can get out in service more and be at meeting and now you won't miss the DC this summer." This was the finally brick in the wall that affirm to us this was a cult. Not one of them understood that we lost a dear friend one who called us mom and dad. That's how close we were. Your other point about how they feel and they are the only ones that show love. That's a bunch of bull crap. Only if you worship the GB will they show you any so called love. They are truly blind and brain dead and very very emotionally shallow. The WT has develope a true class of socialpaths. All ready to praise the corporate mother they embrace. Good one Terry.
