  earthquake in IL back in the 1960's

  i remember the fear i had, i thought i was going to die because the big a started.

  all it was a little shaking of the plates and glasses in the cabinets.

  it was 1967 or 1968 late fall on a saturday morning.

  I know it's Friday but let me tell you a experience from my youth

  i was 14 years old at the time and was having a discusssion with one of my so called worldly friends.

  he asked me what jw believed?

  so from what i knew i explained how we were the only true reglion, that our god's name was jehovah and he was going to kill everybody who was not a jw and you need to become a jw or you are going to be killed also.

  my wife and i have been gone visiting our youngest child this weekend.

  my wife went on free minds first thing when we got home and to our amazement she saw the link to my story in the upper right hand corner.

  all i can say is i was flabbergasted.

  a year after my parents were baptized i was born in 1954. that same year my father was appointed presiding overseer and remained in that position until the early sixties despite the fact he was still smoking.

  he gained the position by default because he was the only baptized man who could read.

  thus began my life course of abuse, neglect and cult thinking.
