I personally don't believe that rationalism is the answer to all problems in life nor is the fundamental principle that guides humankind to its betterment.
Rationalism and Skepticism are two philosophical principles that rest on athiesm.
We are dealing with different philosophies.
Throw out rationalism and skepticism and you throw out atheism.
Throw out faith and hope and you throw out religion.
They are apples and oranges

Are you sure leaving the JW religion has made your life better?. Lurkers think twice
by mankkeli inon this forum, i have carefully read most of the experiences of those who left the jw religion, i have even read experiences that have dated back to 2001, i have read the different circumstances surrounding their exits and what ensued upon leaving.
for the majority, i observed they are better remainning in the religion than leaving.
what benefit is there to strain family relationship because you want to be free?, please tell me, of what value is that freedom?,.

Dear Mankkell,
Great question! I thought I would take the time to post on this important topic. I don't post that much here.
Since leaving the The Watchtower Organization I have found Christ and "the truth". I found the true religion and I'm much closer to God and Christ than I ever was in the false religion of the Watchtower (aka Jehovah's witnesses).
I am not bitter.
I am grateful that God led me out of Satans Organization and into a better spiritual place.
I am filled with joy and happy about my salvation.
I am at peace and content that I need not search for something in a sea of false religions.
I love going to church to pray. I love getting involved in the ministry and preaching.
I enjoy helping the homeless and serving the needs of those that don't have as much.
Your question is poised in such a way that it might seem that in a secular sense we need to improve because we leave The Watchtower Corporation. This is irrelevent. There are Watchtower members (Jw's) that move up and down with good times and bad times, and it is the same with those outside that corporation/religion. Some that leave get on with life much better and others stumble into things they would not as a former Watchtower members. The point is not how great our life is now but how are we preparing for our future with God.
In my secular life I have almost completed my degree and that is something that will help me in this life until retirement if the Lord allows.
You asked about family and how it affects each of us here.
For me it has been positive. By my preaching efforts my sister is now baptized Roman Catholic, a faith I find much closer to the truth than the Watchtower Corporation. My daughter sees me going to church regularly and helping people and changing more than when I was a Watchtower member. I pray she may come to Christ as well. She has vowed never to return to the Church of Jehovahs witnesses (kingdom hall) again. Not by a word from me, but by my life actions.
My mom and dad know I go to a Christian church and I hope that someday my efforts will stir them to accept Christ and Christianity as well. So, yes things are very positive for me after leaving, but mostly in a spiritual sense and family sense as well.
Your post also seems to suggest that if we hurt our family by leaving what good is that. You must realize that Watchtower members are guilty of cutting off family members that have never been a part of their religion. About half of my family growing up, I never knew. They were just secular non church going folks. We didn't associate because they were not of the "in crowd" kind of mentality.
Essentially I have learned to love more. I learned not to judge and not to be afraid of God. Mostly we become Holy by way of loving people. God is love. Let us imitate that.
Even if we leave the Watchtower and some family members shun us it is THEM not showing love. We must love them back regardless. This is Holy. This is good. I pray that someday my brother and my father and mother will step toward Christ and remove themselves from Babylon the great and the Wathtower soon.
Lord have mercy
Peace to you

No part of the world
by irondork inbe no part of the world.
friendship with the world is enmity with god.. perhaps it is some lingering indoctrination talking, but i dont want to be friends with most everyone i meet out there.
granted i work in a rough-neck environment and it is mostly through my employment that i come in contact with others, but im not like them and i cant see myself hanging out in their living rooms and i don't want their filthy mouths in mine.. i dont smoke, i dont cuss, i dont talk about pussy all the time (actually, none of the time).

It sounds to me like you're working off the Watchtower corporations definition of what "world" means.
Maybe you should dive into what that scripture means in context to get a more clear picture.
I also feel your post has a thread of judgement written in it.
For example their is no sin in smoking. It may be harmful to ones health but so is having a bad diet. After all statistically heart disease is the number one killer in America, and that is not caused by smoking but by bad diet. How do you feel when someone is eating a double cheesburger for McD's
It seems things you were taught to appear bad then constitute a connection that those people that do them are bad, hence the expression worldly.
FWIW....the "world" is defined by ideologies that are passing away. That is what that scripture is intended to convey. The early Christians were sent to preach the Gospel and give reason to a new future or kingdom that would take place. Worldy people are people that hold ideologies and worldviews contrary to what was taught in the Bible.
So personally I see people as broken and try to love them. Jesus said love even our enemies. We don't have to imitate their actions but we can love them as Jesus did. Jesus helped the harlots and tax collectors, and criminals, and lowlifes of society.
Be a light to these people but don't judge them. A reboot in life would be to start loving people and not judge them. This is something we were not taught in the Watchtower corporation. Even if you don't judge them by your standards try not to create in group out group thinking, another bad trait taught by the Watchtower corporation.
Peace to you,

It's Time For The Governing Body To Be Removed
by DT inthe current governing body has become a liability for the watchtower society.
they no longer qualify to serve based on the standards that they impose on others.
they have blatantly broken the law in australia.

The watchtower society is just a corporation, a legal entity reserved in modern legal structure to evade tax purposes. Essentially they don't exist except to manipulate the minds of people.
The whole thing is a scam. They can't be removed because they don't exist except on a piece of legal document. They hold an artificial authority over 7 million people.
If all 7 million ignore them they all go away.

Luke 21:8 - Who Should We Really Avoid?
by Darth Rutherford inluke 21:8 - who should we really avoid?.
in his sign of the last days, jesus warned his followers: look out that you are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, i am he, and, the due time has approached.
(luke 21:8) jesus provides clues that help us identify who to avoid.

Thank you again,
BTW... how did you come into this clear understanding coming from a cult like background.

I will use this on the Jw's

An apostate is NOT someone that has left the religion of the Watchtower.
An apostate is someone that has left their religion in favour of another. Let's be real and think outside the box.
Charles Taze Russel was an apostate of the Prespyterian church. He indoctrinated himself to his own ways. Was it possible for C.T. Russel to get re indoctrinated again into his former religion? Yes, it was.
He chose not to.
The religion of the Watchtower is full of apostates. Many of them are ex Catholics, Baptists, Anglicans, Mormons, and Protestants of all sorts. They could get indoctrinated into their former religion again. It is certainly possible.
Peace out

is it moral and or rational to teach children and adults that Santa is real?
by mankkeli in1) yes it is moral and rational.
2) yes it is moral.
3) yes it is rational.

Yes, it is moral.
Santa Claus, as the common anglo name has replaced the original, was a very real person. His real name was Saint Nicholas. He lived around the early fourth century. He was one of the members on the council of Nicea. He even slapped Arius at one point in the debate on the Trinity. For that he was removed for a short time. His life and history is one of giving and helping people out. There is much in the history books on the real Santa, as they say in modern times. Too bad the kids and adults don't know the real story behind this man and how he is a part of the celebration of Christmas. St Nick is the better way to call his name, as it is more accurate.
So fundamentally it is moral to educate the kids about the real Santa. St. Nicholas is a great example to Christians.
But does Santa come from the North pole and slide down chimneys and give toys out on C-mas eve. No. That is just a fairy tale. I think parents owe their kids more than the modern commercialized version as gotten to be.
Peace out
