Has anyone heard of "Secret Disfellowshipping" by Jehovah's Witnesses? Menlo Park Ca. Congregation. Update.
by Balaamsass inno doubt everyone has been following the juan viejo postings regarding the watchtower kingdom hall "grab" on jwn for the last couple of years.
called the mrs and me to say "wow- you have to google this" we did...came here to jwn ...became members..and the rest is history.. in the last nine months i have been calling and emailing contacts in the silicon valley for verification on the societies theft and forced sale of the menlo park kingdom hall (near the new facebook heaquarters) because the story seemed...a little far fetched.
every reliable contact i made has confirmed what juan reported.

I think they will curse the day they ever said that.
They will definitely regret it when it starts costing them money!

I'm surprised the CSA attorneys have not used the Menlo Park case to prove that WTS is not separate from any particular congregation. WTS controls everything about every congregation. Nothing goes on without the approval of the WTS as evidenced at Menlo Park. If WTS doesn't like what is going on locally, they can seize total control of

are men more compliant than women
by enoughisenough ini watched a video once of men being trained ...it was a study.
they had the men doing the most rediculous things-can't remember quite what now.
so between that video, the letter to elders to keep their mouths shut about the koolaid, and to go along with the csa protocol, and what i will call insurance fraud by the jw, and who knows what other things the men in positions in the org go along with-these things prompt the question.

It's difficult to compare the compliance of men vs women in JW World since women aren't in the same positions as men as far as receiving direction from the Branch.
But anyone who has served as an elder knows there are those men who LIVE FOR their position. For many of them it's the only time they garner any respect in their life (even from their wife & kids). Many of them are still so gullible about Jehovah's protection and direction in anything they are asked to do and just watch their ego (and hat size) expand when they are "privileged" to be entrusted with the task of following through on what the Service Desk or CO or Branch tells them to do without giving any thought that it may put them at personal risk.

The Saddest Thing About Tony Morris's Removal
by NotFormer ini've mentioned before how i've wondered how tony morris must have felt when he was sacked.
yes, i know he's a rehensible human being who got served a healthy dose of karma, or, if you like, divine judgement.
to go from having all there is to have within the world he lived in, to where he is now; that's a long fall.

there are no shortage of old-timers whom he could confide in about how he fought tooth and nail against the new beard policy for example. He strikes me as someone with a huge mouth and would love to shoot it off within selected company.
Let's hope he "confides" in someone because we all know how well "Confidentiality" works in WT World. If Tony spills his guts, Atlantis/Grandpa will know soon.

2024 when will Witnesses admit they are wrong???
by Witness 007 in1914 generation is long gone.
1975 was a joke 40 years ago.
i know of many witnesses still hanging on for armagedon but when will they give up?

I think some of Stan's suggestions are already happening, but some can never happen.
Letting the blood issue fade away. They already forgive it if you just say you caved in to pressure and you're' sorry.
Witnessing records go away. They have. No more reporting time.
Be more appealing to young families. That's what the Mormons have done. They focus on family values vs their weird doctrine. Seems like WT follows the course of the Mormons on many things (like the cartoon kids). Clearly they are doing lots of video presentations for kids. But because of their DFing policy they are known more for "breaking up families". Expect that to change as pressure from various Governments prosecute them on that.
Armageddon go away. Can't happen. That's their stick of the "carrot & stick".
Make baptism optional. Can't see that happen. I think that is their "contract" that puts you under their control.
Do away with Kingdom Halls. They have to have a place to serve the KoolAid and to have that "wholesome association" (though that is more at the Burger, Pizza & Beer joint following meetings). So, the sell off of excess inventory will continue and JWs will just have to drive farther -- which will be a test of their "spiritually".
But those are some great ideas for the WT guys who read this to explore!!!!

How are you calling 1914 wrong without replacing it with something that can be right?
I thought there was a lot of that going on at the Annual Meeting.
We just do not know and cannot be dogmatic about it.

I'm curious if they will ever try to face their past. . . . At what point does the past become an albatross that they can no longer ignore? ~ Tonus
It is not "THEIR' past. They (neither the current GB nor R&F) will ever own those past failures. The
GB just want it to fade away. As for the R&F JW today, at least 50% are too young to recall the failure of 1975. They haven't even read about it -- because, (1) they don't read old literature; (2) they don't read apostate stuff; (3) they don't read.I heard a newly baptized JW answer in the WT Study that his Bible Study instructor explained for him that all those 1975 rumors he had heard about were FAKE NEWS (jk) or LIES that were being circulated by apostates. The WT/GB had NEVER made such statements. The WT Conductor let it pass without ANY kind of correction.
Today, there is no emphasis on a date. It is just very soon - very, very soon. We are in the final minutes of the last day of The Last Days. Just look at HOW BAD THINGS ARE!! It must be ANY DAY NOW!
In the next decade or so, many if not most of those who personally recall the 1975 prediction (made in 1966) will be dead, or dying, or too old to abandon the Cult anyway (sunk cost fallacy, as noted above).
The JWs who have admitted it was wrong -- are mostly here.
