Dating a JW for 3 yrs

my bf and i are thinking on getting married.

i posted a foum early this week on whether or not i should get baptized.

i decided not to.. now even though he says he "doesn't care" he got upset last night when i mentioned the subject and how confused i was.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an update on the situation??

I suspect JustBreathe was too hooked (probably blinded by first sexual relationship) to see anything clearly. Never gave any consideration why this guy couldn't find a nice JW girl. Try the fact that all he was after was SEX (and couldn't risk sexing with a JW girl). He was willing to break the rules just to have SEX. No self-control. No stand for "godly" principles (that he supposedly believes). She should mention to a few of the brothers that she is emotionally torn and wishes that she had waited to get involved sexually with him so that she could see things from a different perspective. Then see what side he takes as their sharpening their ax in his judicial meetings. They force him to drop her like a hot potato if he wants to be seen as repentant. Then it will be give up the girl or give up the cult. She fails to see that he will also break the rules after their marriage if he finds a different woman for better sex and dump on her.

Lots of wasted breath on this one.

The Next Change: What Are Publishers Worth?

once upon a time, i invested in an electronics company that increased its profits by over 200% by reducing its customer base!

this counter-intuitive result came about because they realized that most of their revenue came from a few customers who needed more support.. fast forward to the watchtower: whether they admit it to themselves or not, change will come because they are piling up huge numbers of publishers that are almost useless.

worse, they eat up published resources without contributing for them...... and they drag the organization down in multiple ways and create more problems.. they have a "growing" problem - with increasingly useless growth.

Fast forward to the Watchtower: whether they admit it to themselves or not, change will come because they are piling up huge numbers of publishers that are almost useless. Worse, they eat up published resources without contributing for them...... and they drag the organization down in multiple ways and create more problems.

Which is why I have wondered why the WTSGB doesn't just declare a moratorium and let everyone out who wants out. Why maintain the hardline on those who leave without making a stink about it?? Let them go!! Don't those people just give JWs a bad name?? Aren't they the ones who fail to maintain the JW morals, etc?? And why? Because of WT rules they are forced to live "double lives" -- one being they life they choose, the other being the "WT Image" in order to keep communication open with family & friends.

Can You Get DFd for Working for the Department of Defense?

so, as some of you may be aware, i got a job offer with an agency under the u.s. department of defense.

the other day i told a member of my family, and they nearly went apeshit.. my question: what reprecussions could this reasonably have?

does the wts speak of this in any of their publications?

so oompa got df'd this week...

no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.

wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.

my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

Oomopa, sounds to me that instead of you being disfellowshipped, you "disassociated yourself by your actions" of conscenting to a blood transfusion. DF requires 1)notification of meeting, and then 2) notification of committee's decision, and then 3) your right to appeal if you disagree. Disassociate does not require all of those things, just confirmation that you did something by your actions to "dissassociate" yourself (i.e., joining military, joining other church, accepting BT). If you're wife told them you accepted BT and that you disagreed with WTS doctrine on the subject, then you took the "action" to indicate that you are no longer one of JWs.

The announcement read to congregation for DF or DA is the same: "Oomopa is no longer one of JWs".

Easier to claim that YOU made the decision. I expect a lot more such "disassociations" vs. formal disfellowshippings in the future. Easier. Less prone to litigation claims.

i went to a catholic funeral yesterday.

there was no wake, only a mass and the burial and military honors at the cemetery.

although it was not a relative, my j.w.

Conscience matter, other than not sharing in the "false worship", that is to say, not participating in something like the Mass and all it's standing, sitting, genuflecting, etc. To merely attend or not to attend is individual choice.

Content is King- Why the Meetings Fail

one of the big sayings for those that run websites is that "content is king" it makes perfect sense, as sites like this one have entertaining content for the targeted audience.

even better, more content is added everyday bringing users back repeatedly.

poptular tv shows and movies are loved because they entertain customers for a low cost or free.. on the other hand, you have the content provided by the watchtower bible and tract society, delivered though the pages of the watchtower and through weekly meetings.

LostGeneration: their meetings have become too stale for anyone who thinks

It seems to me that the meetings in more recent years have been "dumbed down". Is the average intelligence level such that it is not possible to discuss anything in a meaninful way anymore? And now, with the introduction of the new simplified WT, I guess we will have both the Dumb & Dumber editions. How can it be simplified any more? Or, is it that all the "deeper things", i.e., chronology, historical comparisons, timelines, etc. just got them into trouble? More and more of it is just all fluff. And yet people walk away praising all the "new light" with expressions of "wasn't that just the most encouraging assembly ever!" etc etc ....when it was really the dullest, repetitive stuff ever. And no one catches the rewriting of history and the changing of facts. Instead, people buy it! Event the ones who were there and should know better! How many people will say, "Well, the Society never said anything specific about 1975...." BS! I was there. They said & wrote plenty. And it's all been proven false. Young people who decided to forego higher education in the late 60's because they would never finish it are now at retirement age. The promise of completing the preaching work in the 20th Century......false.....and rewritten (to in our day). I guess that is the worst of it -- No one will stand up and take responsibility! It would be nice to hear a humble: "WE WERE WRONG ABOUT THAT!" And, if someone is wrong one time about something, what's to say they won't be wrong again?
