  on p. 26-27 they talk about how the lunar positions on vat 4956 fit 588/7 bce!!!.

  And anyway, who cares? 607 was the starting point for calculating 1914! and 1914 turned out to be a big hoax anyway.

  Many thanks for that! I will never understand why the watchtower keeps stubbornly insisting on this 607 date when the whole line of prophecy based on it turned out to be a total bust.

  They cling to 607 because it is fundamental to the WTs key doctrine of their EXCLUSIVE Divine Selection/Appointment as God's Sole Channel today. No one else gives a ratts ass about 607/587 because IT DOESN'T MATTER to them. WT hasn't admitted 1914 as a "Total Bust" either. Instead they keep modifying the "generation" definition to keep 1914 alive. They must surely be scratching their balls heads trying to figure out where to go with it all. It doesn't appear that there is anyone at WT who has picked up F. Franz' mantle as historian/prophet, and no wonder -- he may have backed them into a corner of which there is no way out. They must be offeirng prayers and incense (maybe sacrificing virgins?) in hopes that the whole world starts tumbling down in the next 3 years to "prove them right". Even if it's just enough for them to claim that it was the "start" of the Tribulation. (And thanks to our world leaders that may prove true enough!)

  I think there are a lot of JW wives who wear the pants at home.

  She may be the perfect Christian submissive wife in public, but at home, if Momma ain't happy, aint nobody happy.

  Being the perfect Christian wife in public is what gets her hubby appointed to the elder body, and now she is "in the know" on everything going on in the cong.

  I believe he still helps out his dad-in-law's company which leases cars to Watchtower traveling overseers and other Watchtower connected VIPs

  Nepotism is alive and well in WT Land.

  No doubt, he was the best qualified for that PR post and it had nothing to do with being son of a GB member or son-in-law of a mega-wealthy JW.

  out of interest, i have just been scanning through the four latest available watchtower study articles (july thru october 2011) and in doing so i am reading them objectively for the first time.

  i have been shocked, outraged and amazed by some of my findings.. as one example, take the article "a history-making meeting" from the august 15th watchtower, 2011. the article, beginning on page 18, discusses the 126th annual meeting of the watch tower bible and tract society, and begins with a summary of the opening talk by governing body member stephen lett.

  it concludes the highlights of his talk in this way:.

  doesn't this one bible passage just about discount 90% of the witnesses from getting into their new system?

  they practically cornerned the market on sizing people up, and either discounting them or accepting them.

  i honestly think they are in a state of constantly judging just about everyone around them, including their spouses.

  This scripture is quoted right out of the New World Translation, right out of the JW's very own bible that they overlook:

  John 12:47 But if anyone hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I came, not to judge the world, but to save the world.

  Shouldn't it be obvious to all that ANDYS has twisted this scripture because I always understood it that Christ came to save only baptized Jehovah's Witnesses who attend all the meetings and put in national average hours in field service.....

  Why move magazine printing from the U.S. to Canada?

  the january 2011 issues were printed in canada so the change was made.. the wts spent millions of dollars enlarging and updating the printing operations in wallkill so they could consoladate the book and magazine printing at the one location.

  it was in 2004 that they stopped the presses in brooklyn and began book production in wallkill.. now just 6 years later they suppossedly sold several of their presses from the u.s. and canada, bought a large new very fast press for canada and had to enlarge the printery there to accomodate it.. now the canada branch will print over 260 million magazines for the u.s.each year and all the expansion done in wallkill was for nothing.. does anyone know why this was done?.

  In the US, every cong pays into a "fund" annually for the healthcare costs and car insurance costs for all traveling overseers. Perhaps this payment covers the costs at the US Branch that go beyond their volunteer doctors & nursing care. A CO in our large metro area required surgery, and WT negotiated with area hospitals and doctors (as do all insurance companies here in the US) for discounted fees based on the fact that he was a "volunteer missionary" with no personal insurance coverage. I'm told that the CO was due to move to new circuit in different state and the surgery was performed at new assignment area as WTS achieved more reasonable negotiated fees at that location.

  I assume that in Canada, with socialized medical care, if "unemployed" Bethelite required health care or surgery, he would be eligible as would any other Canadian citizen. Perhaps costs for non-citizens (if US Bethelites move to Canada) are still cheaper yet than the cost in NYC. (?)

  R&F should not have to be ORDERED to respect and revere the Elders. Anyone who EARNS the respect of others, does not have to demand it. If elders were living up to the description of Older Men as described in the Bible, the sheep would WILLINGLY give them the respect. But, when elders are elders IN NAME ONLY, that fact quickly becomes evident to the flock and they lose their respect.

  I do think there are some sincere, compassionate, genuine elders in the Organization, but they are now the minority. Most sincere men have become disillusioned by the politics and pettiness required to "play the game". It's just not worth it. The majority now serving are there for the TITLE and POSITION and "HONOR" that they think it brings them. They are losers in every other way in life and it's the only opportunity they have to find "respect" and fulfillment.
