i can’t remember the last time i stayed in on new year’s eve.
every year we went out and made this date a real party.
it was a celebration that included a night out, a stay in a hotel , eating, drinking and dancing to live music!.
Freezing rain predicted. For some reason the weather is always shitting on NYE. Considered catching a flight to somewhere warm. Ft Lauderdale maybe. But traveling isn't all that fun anymore. TSA. Flight delays. Walking miles to the gates.Easier to stay near home.
On the other hand -- Local restaurants are closed due to Covid, so no better place to go than our own hot tub with a nice bottle of champagne (if we stay up til midnight).
i have a few jw relatives who are true believers.
by this i mean, they believe with all their heart that 1914 was the beginning of the last days, that this is the last generation, that we are in the very last of the last hour of this system of things, and that you should obey the governing body even if it does not make sense.
all of them are in their 60s and up into their 90s there is nothing you can say or show them to convince them or even cause a small doubt that the wt is not god organization.
The word "BELIEVERS" is a bit of a problem here.
IMO most JW's have NO IDEA what they believe!
They could no more explain the "time, times, and 1/2 a time" than explain quantum physics. They have no idea WTF this "overlapping" BS is about. All they know is JW dot ORG and that they are "SPECIAL" and only they will be saved and everyone else is "lesser" and will be destroyed and they will inherit all the "booty" left behind.
JW's no longer teach/learn any doctrine. It's just listen, obey, or get shunned.

Frankly, I think we could use a new 3rd Party. The Dems and the GOP are really one and the same. They have both abandoned the middle class, middle American. But I don't mean some fringe group like the Green Party, etc that really doesn't matter in any election.
Trump could have enough influence to start such a thing. He has the grassroots connections to get things rolling. But as mentioned the man is 74 years old. I wouldn't want to be tackling this kind of thing and I'm younger than he is.

although they are unaware, for the most part, our ship is slowly veering off course.
not enough to cause attention, not enough to trigger alarm bells, but just enough.. since the summer dc, i have watched carefully, as the new releases remain on the coffee table, in plain sight, not touched, more of a decoration that anything.
I was excited to see a new message from Tech49 only to see it's a revived one.

I think we don't see deeper discussions about JW stuff much anymore because JWdom is no longer deep. It has become less and less analytical because it got its butt kicked and is now playing it safe. As some have said, JWdom is morphing into a non-analytical mega church that focuses on feel-good stuff and lifestyle vs doctrine. — MAGNUM
I think that about sums up JWism today. “Where’s the beef?” No longer are there any discussions of the “deeper things“ because there are none. The new JW religion is all about feeling “warm and fuzzy“. And of course, shunning apostates and even “potential“ apostates so that the real TTATT not be revealed to the JW drones.
i think it should simply be there to help us citizens.
and besides giving money to other countries, stop giving money to the arts and entertainment..... give money to help taxpayers struggling with debt .

If I could work the same kind of "deal" that Hunter Biden has, I'd be great with the "Government" taking care of me. I think I could squeak by on 100's of MILLION$ thanks to my "government" connections.

LOW INFORMATION VOTERS
There really, really should be testing required to qualify to vote.
Read the constitution -- originally only landowners were allowed to vote. That raised "the bar" for who had a vote in important issues.Today, some places allow "illegals" to vote. Why should they have any "say" whatsoever in decisions in this nation?.
The Borg does seem to be getting more extreme and blunt, Stronger fear-mongering. Like in those bunker videos, or being rounded-up in a meadow with the troopers barging-in.
And that will continue because they see that the majority of JW's are adhering to the fear mongering.
