  2024 when will Witnesses admit they are wrong???

  1914 generation is long gone.

  1975 was a joke 40 years ago.

  i know of many witnesses still hanging on for armagedon but when will they give up?

  How are you calling 1914 wrong without replacing it with something that can be right?
  

  I thought there was a lot of that going on at the Annual Meeting.

  We just do not know and cannot be dogmatic about it.

  It is not "THEIR' past. They (neither the current GB nor R&F) will ever own those past failures. The
  GB just want it to fade away. As for the R&F JW today, at least 50% are too young to recall the failure of 1975. They haven't even read about it -- because, (1) they don't read old literature; (2) they don't read apostate stuff; (3) they don't read.

  I heard a newly baptized JW answer in the WT Study that his Bible Study instructor explained for him that all those 1975 rumors he had heard about were FAKE NEWS (jk) or LIES that were being circulated by apostates. The WT/GB had NEVER made such statements. The WT Conductor let it pass without ANY kind of correction.

  Today, there is no emphasis on a date. It is just very soon - very, very soon. We are in the final minutes of the last day of The Last Days. Just look at HOW BAD THINGS ARE!! It must be ANY DAY NOW!

  In the next decade or so, many if not most of those who personally recall the 1975 prediction (made in 1966) will be dead, or dying, or too old to abandon the Cult anyway (sunk cost fallacy, as noted above).

  The JWs who have admitted it was wrong -- are mostly here.

  The Next Big Thing In WT World

  things got a bit lively after the agm leaks in october.

  there was a lot of discussion going on on this board for a few months.

  now that all the leaks have been more or less confirmed as policy, and we've had lively discussions at length concerning the changes, things seem to have slowed down here.. a few suggestions have been raised as to what might be the next changes, such as women being allowed to wear slacks (in the usa, anyway), decoupling from 1914 as an anchoring date and others.. so, what changes do you think will be announced this year?.

  Conversation with old friend

  i recently had a conversation with an old acquaintance from the congregation i used to attend.

  we talked about the recent changes in the 2023 annual meeting.

  i especially pointed out the one about getting rid of hourly reporting on monthly time slips.

  I was disliked because . . . I had a decent figure I got criticized over. ~ LHG

  While that sounds a little unbelievable on its surface, it is exactly what happened to my wife when we moved into a new Cong. Two of the elders' wives had "widened out" in middle age and even made openly pejorative comments about her "size 6" in her presents in a service car group. Yes, it was said with a smile and "Bless Her Heart" kind of attitude. It took my wife a bit longer to realize how malicious they could really be due to their jealousy.

  no doubt everyone has been following the juan viejo postings regarding the watchtower kingdom hall "grab" on jwn for the last couple of years.

  called the mrs and me to say "wow- you have to google this" we did...came here to jwn ...became members..and the rest is history.. in the last nine months i have been calling and emailing contacts in the silicon valley for verification on the societies theft and forced sale of the menlo park kingdom hall (near the new facebook heaquarters) because the story seemed...a little far fetched.

  every reliable contact i made has confirmed what juan reported.

  PROV 6:16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:

  17 haughty eyes,

  a lying tongue,

  hands that shed innocent blood,

  18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,

  feet that are quick to rush into evil,

  19 a false witness who pours out lies,

  and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

  Jackson's false and wicked scheming clearly fails on 3 of the 7 things God hates, and IMO it also sirs up dissension (or else we would not all be here).

  What you think consequences gonna be for watchtower if they lose the court appeal in Norway?

  personally i think they gonna realise god's not backing org.

  that idea gonna get even more established in their minds.

  i think the real selling of kingdom hall gonna start then.

  Losing charity status means the Borg will have to start paying property tax on their khs and properties.

  That could turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to WT. What better reason/excuse to have for the need to sell more Kingdom Halls?

  EDITED: Though, from DOYKLee's comment (above) I'm not sure that is what would result if they are unsuccessful with the case in Norway. Based on Lee's comment, I gather the Norway case is more about losing income that comes directly from the Government vs. facing additional costs of being taxed. In the USA, churches do not receive payment from Government funds, but they are exempt from paying any kind of taxes -- income taxes on receipts or "profits"; sales tax for purchases; real estate taxes on property owned.

  There are not really any consequences to a woman wearing trousers/pants beyond not likely to be allowed in the Ministry School (which almost does not exist any longer anyway). I'm in the Midwest USA and am well acquainted with an elder whose wife only wore "pant suits" (such as is not uncommon in corporate America -- see Hillary Clinton). He told fellow elders to keep their nose out of his family's business and left it at "she has reason that are none of YOUR business". Worked for him, but he was one of the Alpha Male elders.

  If they lose I think they will seriously consider what action they need to take to "get their ducks in a row" and requality EVEN IF it means some New Light on shunning.

  They found New Light on blood transfusions when Bulgaria refused legal recognition of the religion due to their policy of DFing if one accepted transfusion. Today, if anyone accepts a BT all they need do is profess "weakness" and repentance and they will not be DFd. But failure to do so results in "disassociation" by their actions.

  Yes, it's word play, but WT will play the game.
