Elder abuser in Sunshine Coast down under (?)
by carla innot sure if this has been posted or not, apologies if it has.
i did a quick search and did not see it.
https://archive.md/5zcdi -a sunshine coast jehovah’s witness figure accused of horrific sex crimes has been remanded in jail for fresh offences which allegedly occurred the same day he attended court.. and https://archive.md/r2o6x -a sunshine coast jehovah’s witness figure who allegedly used his position in the church to sexually assault young men has been arrested by police.

The title says "Elder".
Thank you for clarifying, Earnest!
So, unless abuse was reported to the BOE and they failed to take action to prevent further abuse, I don't see where the Congregation or Organization is culpable. I AM NOT defending WT regarding their CSA issues, but I don't see their involvement here. Surely, the man is a monster. He has forever f#cked up the lives of these victims.

He was an elder? The article I read said he was only a member of the congregation. Reprehensible no matter what.
Is there any clarification on whether he was in an appointed position of any kind when the abuse happened?
IF NOT -- if only a member of the JW congregation -- or a "publisher", did any of the abuse happen at JW events? Bookstudy? Field service? Bible study with the minor? Was there a JW investigation (2 elders or JC of 3 elders) that ignored the allegations perhaps do to the 2-witness rule?
If none of the above is true, is the Congregation or the JW Branch guilty of anything? I doubt if any church or organization scrutinizes all the "members" -- parishioners who simply walk through their doors and attend a service.
Yeah, he's still a scumbag. But is there anything making the Congregation or Organization accountable?

Forget 1914, the 1975 generation are now passing away!
by nowwhat? inwe still have quite a few elderly here that came in as young families in the late 1960's-early 70's because soon, yes very soon they would enter the new system and never grow old.
it's now one year away from 50 years since 1975. just in the last couple years i've seen them come down with alzheimer's, cancer, brain tumors, becoming invalid etc.
the children of them that are now around 60 are just so distraught at seeing their parents deteriorate.

Thats because the closer you get to "truth" and debunking someones beliefs,, the more angrier,, hostile and aggressive they become.
YOU CANNOT MAKE THEM HEAR! -

Those news articles are from 2022. Evidently the Aussie court system moves as slow as it does here in the US.

An elder once told me the WT Society had never said anything about 1975.
I think that's why I continue to hang on to a couple of boxes of old JW literature that are in the way in my garage. They mean nothing to me any longer. I do not need them for reference. But if some dumb ass JW made that statement to me I can drag out the damn publication where they said all that BS.

the toll of being PIMO
by enoughisenough infor those of you who are pimo, how do you feel it may be effecting your mental and physical health?
is it easy to pretend to be what you are not?
how do you feel about falsely supporting the pimi which builds them up and therefore an org you don't believe in?

Surely the Holy Spirit knew that only he was uniquely qualified to read the prepared talk that in reality any 12 year old could read, right?
In all honesty, that is exactly what he believed. He was not intending to "leave Jehovah" or the Organization. Just a temporary "out for a few months" and then be right back in (but with a new wife) and no doubt he would still be in Jehovah's favor. I have to say that on a 1-10 scale for a speaker, he was a 10. He was greatly loved and respected by everyone (except his fellow elders in his Cong who saw his narcissism and BS). Unfortunately for him, they were determined that he would never be reinstated. Now maybe THAT is a true sign of HS direction?

What you think consequences gonna be for watchtower if they lose the court appeal in Norway?
by Hellothere inpersonally i think they gonna realise god's not backing org.
that idea gonna get even more established in their minds.
i think the real selling of kingdom hall gonna start then.

It's a risky game if the WT appeal it and go higher because if there was a chance to lose that then all they have done is highlighted to a further audience the issues.
It sure seems to me that they are LOSING a majority of legal cases they are in recently. They surely have to have concerns about this and the appearance it projects. It's easy to see the danger of a precedence being set in one member of the EU that could cause a domino effect on their status in all of them.

What specifically was it for you?
Situations that were finally sufficient evidence to me that there truly was no direction by "Holy Spirit". Yes, I feel pretty damn stupid and/or gullible when I admit I actually DID believe in that Voodoo Hocus Pocus (as I call it now) concept.
Elders appointed by HS?
What about the guy appointed (by HS?) who was having an adulterous relationship that had gone on for EIGHT YEARS?
What about the elder who was in an adulterous relationship with a person with whom he was "studying" and planning to confess to the elders and divorce his wife until the notice from the CO that he was chosen (by HS?) to deliver a keynote talk at the District Convention? He delayed his "confession" and divorce until after the convention as it was his opinion that HS had determined HE WAS THE BEST PERSON to deliver that talk. WTF?
What about the malicious, underhanded dealing between elders vying for positions and status or even just the vicious campaigning to get the votes of the BOE to support them? AHHHH, YOU CAN FEEL THE LOVE!
There's the short version.
