Waiting
I'm sorry for coming on so strong. I was irritated that you didn't believe me at first, but then I found out from your later post that you did after I sent more detail.. Again I apologize.
I'm a 60 year old Yankee, tho Grandfather Teel moved to Ohio from Greenville North Carolina circa 1920 and brought his sisters, Berta, Lona, Carrie and Rae and brother George with him. His father had died in a hunting accident ten years earlier (the family believes that it was no hunting accident, rather he was assinated by the KKK for hiring black people to work on his farm). My grandfather as the oldest had the responsibility of getting the family out of poor conditions.
Up north all four sisters became "Bible Students." Berta went to a convention in Europe with a woman my mother called "the Coca Cola heiress" Berta met Rutherford there and at some point she moved to Bethel. Her husband did not file for divorce until two years after she abandoned him.
My mother told me that in the 1940's Rutherford bought 100 dollar silk shirts. What would that be in today's dollars? My mother was a very zealous Witness and had no animosity towards either Rutherford or her aunt. In fact, she had very high regard for both of them. So any of her accounts are not negatively biased. By the way, this is not easy to talk about. I've only shared this information with two other people, Jim Penton and Leonard Critean, before these postings.
Rutherford drank the finest wiskey and smoked the best cigars. His living quarters took up one entire floor of Bethel.
I have a new thread called new truths. I'd like your imput on it. As you can tell from my earliest posts, humor helps me deal with it all.
