RR,
I think we have agreed to disagree, and it's nice to communicate at a place like this where that is possible.
hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.
i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.
a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

i'm wondering if you still attend meetings?
do you hold out hope for the watchtower organization?
if you've left entirely, have you found another form of worship?
TR,
My opinions are the closest to yours than any others posted. I would call myself a Christian Agnotic. Christian because I believe that Jesus taught good principles, but I assume other religious leaders who I have not read did as well. Agnostic because I'm not dogmatic enough to be an Atheist. To a whole lot of stuff, I have to say "I don't know." Furthermore, I don't care if I can't figure it out. If there is a God I don't think he cares either. I try to do the best I can, and if there's something beyond this life it will be a nice surprise. I think it is insulting to a Diety to think we can do anything to effect his decisions. I think praying to curry his favor and running around trying to figure out just exactly is the right thing to do is a collassal waste of time and and insult to his intelligence. If he is there and if he cares, well so be it. It not, have a nice day.
I hesitated to post this, and never thought I would go into it, but this seems like a safe place to do so.

After rereading the story, I would say that both the good and bad slave had a management job working for a rich man. None of your other questions can be answered because the story doesnt't give that information.
this one was sent to me by my other daughter.

You know Frency,
These women are going to be on us like a duck on a june bug, and I'm going to make matters worse. Had this male type friend who got a sex change operation. I asked him/her if it was painful, he said no, not until the end of the procedure, when they sucked half his brain out.

dear friends, .
1/3/01 it was announced at morning worship today that brother karl klein, .
Welcome JT,
I've really enjoyed your comments. They are helpful, and I hope some of ours help you as well. I've been out since 1965, raised in it. Most of the time my emotions are dormant, since I'm on to other things, but I have to say that reading and posting here for the last month has stirred them up again. I think your decision to leave the stuff alone for awhile is a good one, getting on with life is a good thing.
I've noticed a lot of bebate here on some of the threads. I read them and sometimes I throw in my two cents worth, but I find the whole thing to be tiresome and pointless.
Again, thank you for your thoughts and welcome!

RR,
First of all, I don't accept your premise that the story applies to anything. It's a story to learn from and that is all it is.
Now, you say it applies to someone helping others. The story doesn't say that. It talks about serving their master, not other people.
i've really enjoyed the conversations about music, poetry, movies, books and short storys.
i thought it would be interesting to read about little known news from around the world, so i'll start with some from the tiny dot where i live on this ball of mud we call earth.. i just read in the paper this morning that the people of port clinton, ohio are celebrating new years by dropping a 500 pound fiberglass walleye fish into lake erie.
we people here in ohio have a certain panache.. the tornado in xenia, ohio this summer missed my daughter's house by a block and a half.
Waiting,
My mother's family was from the Piedmont area of NC, near Greenville. I thought their accent was soft and pleasant. My grandfather lost his accent up north but his three sisters kept theirs to maintain that Southern Belle aura.
I used to vist Columbia SC when I worked for NCR. They had a plant their. Didn't get to see much of the area though. One time I was wandering through the NCR facility and came across a bulliton board with a sunday editorial on it with the title "How to spot a Yankee" .... Interesting.

The thing about white people at the top is because it was started by white people, and they lived for long time there a Bethel.
But, did you know regarding the subject of blacks, that the Kingdom Halls were segregated in the South until thing's were changed by the government. With all their outcry for Christian justice, that was a cause that they never took on.

this policy is unethical and immoral in my opinion.
however, i can no longer continue to serve the members of my church as i do not agree with a church policy that as a church elder i am required to enforce.
I don't know what to say, but I feel compelled to say something. So many tragic stories, yet so many people alive. We grew up through the concrete, like stuborn weeds, and we are alive to help each other and help the new ones that come along, I think that is our blessing. Our time in that place we had to leave was not waisted. Our time gave us our new found wisdom to help others.

Thinker,
There is no FDS. It's just another lie they told you.
