Do I work??? No, and I am proud of it. I am 64 and retarded, opps, I meant retired. If you look me up under mermber directory you will find that I average 5 posts per day, even though I hardly ever post any more. At one time, my average was 8 per day, but I don't post much any more. I have run out of things to say.

Two great quotes!
by mkr32208 ini contend that we are both atheists, i just believe in one less god than you do.
when you understand why you dismiss all other possible gods, then you will know why i dismiss yours.

What was your turning point?
by jeanniebeanz inwhat was it that was the real eye opener for you?.
for me, it was after watching the video, "jehovah's witnesses; a non-prophet organization," and the point on how the org puts itself in a place between jesus and mankind.
a position which does not exist scripturally.

I left many years before the internet or many books were written about the JWs. What did it for me, was reading the early writings of Russell and Rutherford. Those two sure did write a lot of foolishness, and many of their interpretations of scripture were totally different than today. In many ways, it was a different religion, and this led me to have very serious doubts about this religion having God's blessing.

Steve2, that was a very intersting post. Like you, I have a PhD in psychology, mine is in organizational psych, with a minor in clinical. I was raised as a Witness, and taught not to go to college. After a year after high school, after saving my money, I talked my mother into letting me go to college. After two years, I had to go back to work, but I eventually got my degrees. I am go glad I did.

Yes indeed, Rae was born in North Carolina as were all of the rest of the family, including my two uncles, my grandfather's sons. The first person born in Ohio, was my mother, Circa, 1922. Denten marrried Carrie. She was shipped off to a mental hospital, when Denton found her over his bed with a knife in her hand. She only got out when she was much older, and her daughter, Audrey took care of her. I only saw her in those later years.

In your own opinion, what makes someone smart?
by doodle-v inin your own opinion, what makes someone smart?

Well, I just can not stay away from this subject. IQ tests are designed to measure general mental ability. They probably should be called tests of academic aptitude and achievement. These tests do not measure everyting, nor were they disigned to do do. These tests are the highest preditors of job suceess, as is shown in a research publication by Hunter and Schmidt, in Psycological Bullatin, 1998. If you don't believe me, look it up.

Bonnie and Berta Go to France!
by Farkel inyep.
the saga of bonnie boyd and berta peale is now translated into french and about to invade the land of great food and crappy politics!.
rutherford demasque : l?affaire berta et bonnie.

It is quite a paradox, that it is first translated into French. France is where she got her sleezy and sexy underwear. Not exactly the undergarments for a pionneer sister of the annointed, or as we us used to call them, a member of the remnant. Her remnants looked good all right.

It is no coincedence at all. Leona as my wife spelled or Lona as we called her was married to an Eggers. Their two children were Jack and Sue. Jack fought in WWII and was never considered a Witness. Once my wife and I visited him. Even though he was not a Witness, he never celebrated Christmas out of respect for his mother. He told me, that if you don't believe it any more, then my all means, join in the celebration. It was good advice, and it almost lead to my disfellowshiping, but we left town before they got around to it ................................................I have no knowledge about the Skitty family. ----------------------------------------------------- Sue was a kind and gentle person, as were all in the family. She was very intelligent, as were all in the family. She was very pretty. She was a high school cheerleader back in her day. The rules regarding the religion were more relaxed back then.

In defense of Bill Bowen and Silent Lambs
by Junction-Guy inafter reading some of the comments against silent lambs, i thought i would respond back with my own topic.
anyway, i have met bill bowen in person at the silent lambs summit in nashville back in march.
i did not feel that he was arrogant in anyway or egotistical.he seemed to conduct that summit in a very professional way and really put together a good program.

I spent a week end with Bill. He is not like his stage presence. He is a hyper active alpha male. Today his personal life is in shambles, because he put too much into his cause, his mission. That is a real shame.
